Though once affiliated with the Darkness, he does not seek destruction or chaos against the world unlike much of Dark Enchantress Cookie's forces; the exact circumstances of his recruitment are currently unknown even to other members of the group, such as Licorice Cookie. Dark Choco Cookie followed the Darkness due to his guilt and self-loathing over his past actions, believing that someone as supposedly vile as him deserves only the worst. He constantly endured abuse from those in Dark Enchantress Cookie's ranks and from Dark Enchantress Cookie herself. Pomegranate Cookie was a prime culprit of the mockery against Dark Choco Cookie, often forcing him to relive his traumatic past with her illusionary magic as punishment for not being truly dedicated to the Darkness' cause. In fact, after being defeated by GingerBrave and company in both the Hall of Enlightenment and the Timeless Realm, he seemed to wish to join the group when offered. However, he refused, stating that the painful path of Darkness was what he deserved.

During his youth, Dark Choco Cookie was the cause of the violent fall of the Dark Cocoa Kingdom. However, it can be argued that such actions were not entirely his fault; they occurred immediately after he unsheathed the Strawberry Jam Sword, known to possess mind-altering passive abilities similar to hypnotism. In any case, it is evident that Dark Choco Cookie feels deep regret for these actions and believes that he alone should be punished.

Before the fall of the Dark Cocoa Kingdom, Dark Choco Cookie was shown to be self-confident and very entrepreneurial. Despite his royal origins, he was very charitable and cared deeply for the well-being of others, protecting those in need in his naive quest to follow in his father's footsteps and become a hero.

Dark Choco Cookie is a quiet and reserved person. He has very low self-esteem, almost constantly reflecting on his regretful past and lamenting how afraid everyone is of him. In reality, the only times Dark Choco Cookie expresses confidence are when he acknowledges the terrifying power granted to him by the Strawberry Jam Sword. When interacting with those he is under no obligation to oppose, he is relatively polite, though he can be brusque with others. Perhaps due to his low self-esteem and his Dark Cacao origins, Dark Choco Cookie steadfastly refuses to indulge in any pleasures in life.

Before the events of Frozen Cliff Citadel, Dark Choco Cookie always carried the cursed Strawberry Jam Sword. This medieval-style greatsword has a broad, white steel blade; its foregrip is thin and long, and its foregrip protrudes in a diamond shape. The hilt consists of a symmetrical two-piece crossguard, similar to Dark Choco Cookie's outer shoulder guards, a rainguard holding a menacing star-shaped ruby, and a plain hilt and pommel, all dark slate in color.

Dark Choco Cookie's attire is very modest and understated, befitting his quiet personality. He wears simple black plate armor with distinctive details such as a skirt, greaves, and shoulder pads. Unlike his base armor, he wears a somber cloak draped over his shoulders, with a large cocoa-colored cape wrapping around his body, and two massive semicircular shoulder pads. The shoulder pads emulate two halves of an Oreo cookie: each consisting of two onyx outer layers sandwiching a creamy white center, very similar to real-life sandwich cookies. Its outer layers are adorned with a concentric wine-purple design: a circle surrounded by alternating diamonds and stars, similar to the embossed pattern on an Oreo.

Dark Choco Cookie is a Cookie with a reddish complexion and a tall and robust build. His right eye, a carmine color, remains narrowed in a thoughtful expression; the other is forced closed due to an old scar that marks it vertically. His lips generally show no emotion and his brow is slightly furrowed by default. The gentleman's hair is straight, with a simple bob cut parted in the middle, a deep raven color with two prominent white streaks, like his father's. His hair is often decorated with a faint red lighting at the edge to contrast with the rest of his design, although this is only a stylistic decision.
