Lana

Her mom: 40 years old. Her Dad: 45 years old. Her twin Sisters: Harper and Sarah 6 years old for both.

Lana is a short and slender young girl with fair skin, blue eyes, and short blue hair, the latter in which she wears a yellow string headband that resembles a fishing net. She wears a short blue cape behind her back, a sleeveless white sailor shirt on top of a dark blue swimsuit with a blue fish decal in the middle of the chest, and long blue pants with a yellow string near the waist (from which hangs a badge shaped like her Trial Captain symbol) and blue Hawaiian wave patterns on the bottoms. On her feet, she wears darkly-colored rubber sandals that are too big for her. She is also often seen with a fishing rod. Lana also wears a blue Z-Ring.

Lana cares a lot about her parents and shares a lot of traits from them, such as her mother's way of making jokes and her father's love for fishing. During her vacation from the Pokémon school, Lana accompanied her dad on his fishing trip.

Harper and Sarah: Lana often gets annoyed with her sisters' naughty and annoying attitudes, but at the same time, she cares for them no matter what. Also, Lana would go out of her way to keep her sisters safe from danger and does enjoy doing various things with them as well. Lana would even join in with her sisters whenever it was something fun or playing with Pokémon. After an incident caused by a pack of Ghost-type Pokémon, Lana found a way to keep her sisters in line by giving them a menacing look.

Lana is a seasoned fisherwoman, who can fish out most Water-type Pokémon, and fights to the end for any bigger prey. She is also seen as suitable fishing teacher, being asked by Professor Kukui to teach her classmates the proper way to fish for Pokémon. In addition, Lana is very athletic, always landing on her feet.

Primarina:

When Primarina was a Popplio, Lana would often carry her in her arms or on her head. Before Popplio evolved, she and Lana would always train to perfect the former's balloon blowing. Whenever Primarina was separated from her, Lana would drop everything to search for her. When she evolved into a Brionne and Primarina, Lana became excited, seeing how much she had grown in her ability. Lana would do anything to protect Primarina and she would do the same for her. Lana had Primarina stay outside her PokéBall, even as a Popplio and Brionne. When she was leaving with her father, Lana had Primarina accompany her.

Sandy (Eevee):

When she first met Sandy, Lana was surprised that he instantly ran up to her. She wondered if he belonged to someone else, but Rotom revealed that he was a wild Pokémon. Seeing that Team Skull were trying to catch him, Lana's first act was to protect him, inspiring him to battle alongside her and Popplio. Hearing her friends talk about Popplio and Sandy's close friendship and encouraging her to catch the wild Eevee, Lana realized that her and Sandy have already bonded with each other. After giving him a nickname, Lana asked Sandy if he wanted to join her team. He accepts, prompting Lana to catch him with a Dive Ball. Lana shares a strong friendship with Sandy, as they have a lot of things in common.

They both enjoy eating, love the sea, and would help their friends in anyway they can. Lana would usually have Sandy sit on her shoulders, her head, or her arms. Lana and Sandy would go to great lengths to protect each other. Despite their friendship, Lana sometimes gets upset and even annoyed when he does something wrong or wanders off on his own. Lana had Sandy join her for her fishing adventure with her father. Also, Lana decided to not evolve Sandy and would rather keep him the way he is as she was inspired by Ash's Pikachu decision to stay just as he is.

Lana is generally a pleasant and nice girl. As her appearance suggests, she likes Water-type Pokémon and has a great connection with them (though she is generally kind and caring to all her Pokémon). While she is usually quiet, she is actually a girl of action. However, despite her quietness, she apparently gets incredibly embarrassed very easily when teased about romance, as shown when people asked her numerous times if Ash was her boyfriend. Additionally, while Lana usually keeps her cool, she sometimes gets upset and loses her temper, often as a result of Pokémon being mistreated or her sisters teasing her. On the other side, Lana has a mischievous part to her personality. She sometimes scares her friends with haunted stories and likes to joke about having seen or caught a very rare Pokémon in the sea (for example, Kyogre), with Ash usually being the main person to fall for her jokes.

When Lana was younger she went with her mother to Aina's Kitchen as her mother was receiving a delivery over there. While playing, Lana met Mallow then they went to play in the forest until they got lost but a Drampa, who they nicknamed Grandpa Forest, was able to help them out. Also, it even gave them a berry. Which they dub them as Bittersweet berries. After that day, Lana and Mallow became the best of friends. Lana was using a Poké Ride Lapras and found saw several members of Team Skull intimidating Popplio. Lana had Lapras freeze the grunts with Ice Beam, then came to rescue Popplio. After taking it to the Pokémon Center, Lana fed Popplio and the two have been inseparable ever since.

Lillie:

Lana and Lillie are close friends as they would do a lot of fun stuff together, even having Mallow accompany them sometimes. Also, Lana encourages Lillie to do her best at various things. When her mother was kidnapped by an Ultra Beast, Lana helped Lillie and her brother Gladion get their mother back with the rest of their friends' help. Lana and Lillie are even classmates at the Pokémon School. When her friend was leaving on a journey to find her long lost father, Lana went to see Lillie and her family go off as she bid her farewell.

Ash:

Ash is Lana's other close friend as they would go on adventures together but they are sometimes joined by Mallow. Lana has great respect for Ash and would cheer him on whenever he battles or other things he participates in. Lana would help Ash and he has done the same for her, especially whenever their Pokémon became separated from them. However, Lana does sometimes get annoyed with Ash's habits, though in turn Ash is also annoyed at Lana for her constant jokes. Lana and Ash were also classmates at the Pokémon School. They part ways when she stays in Alola before setting off to go fishing with her dad while the latter left to go back home to continue his journey.

Ida:

Ida isn't only one of Lana's friends but her mentor as she was the one who helped her perfect her Z-Moves. Lana admires Ida and wants to impress her in anyway she can and use her Z-Moves the same she does. They part ways when Ida left to travel the world with Kanoa.

Misty:

Ever since knowing Misty, Lana has become close friends with her as they share a common love for Water-Types. Lana kept in touch with Misty as she invited her and Brock to visit everyone in Alola. Also, Lana was given one of Misty's lures as a thank you gift for inviting her and Brock to Alola.

Mallow: Mallow is Lana's best friend, as they've known each other since they were little. When they got older, Lana and Mallow became classmates at the Pokémon School. Lana does a lot of activities with Mallow but they do have Lillie or Ash accompany them sometimes. Also, Lana cares very much about Mallow. Lana trusts Mallow just as much as she trusts her. In addition, Lana supports Mallow and helps her when it's needed or comforts her when she's sad, shown when she was sad about her deceased mother. When they battled each other during the League and seeing her best friend was about to forfeit it, Lana not only help Mallow realize that her partner wanted to continue battling alongside her but her words of encouragement helped her perfect her Z-Moves. Lana and Mallow part ways for a while as she left with her father for fishing while the latter stays to improve her family's restaurant.

Kiawe:

Lana and Kiawe are classmates at the Pokémon School. They appear to be good friends, as they help each other when either one of them needs it. For example, when Kiawe's family farm was threatened to be sold to a resort company, Lana did whatever she could to help him keep it safe from their clutches. Before she left to go fishing with her dad, Lana wished Kiawe good luck in finishing his Island Challenge.

Sophocles:

Lana and Sophocles are classmates at the Pokémon School. Lana is good friends with Sophocles and supports him, shown when she cheered him on during the Vikavolt race he entered. Also, Lana would help Sophocles from time to time and has some respect for his inventions. Lana even got to see Sophocles off when he was leaving for Hoenn alongside his cousin, Molayne, before setting off for fishing with her dad.
