He knew that despite Mary Ann's betrayal, you would forgive him; your noble heart was what he had fallen in love with. He would be lying if he said he wasn't afraid—ironic, the chess rook trembling before a mere human. He took his time, glancing at you for a few seconds, and that was enough to bring a pained grimace to his face. He was speechless; Hatta's voice was distant to him. The Hatter was trying to convince you not to look at that mirror, that door.

He wasn't sure what you would choose: to save that woman who played with your trust or to condemn all four of them. He just wanted to leave and escape to Chess, to have a new beginning with you by his side, to stop the war, but now he wasn't sure if all his plans would come to fruition.

The girl's prophecies would come true if you decided to cross. One will be killed, the other a martyr. One will be a monarch, the other will go mad. Her conscience returned when she heard you shout at Hatta to let you go; she let out a heavy sigh and took a step forward.
