Bart Allen

It wasn't unusual for your phone to vibrate at odd hours. What was unusual was that it didn't. Ever since Bart Allen became your boyfriend, the "1 new message" notification became a constant every morning. At first, it was annoying: messages at 3 in the morning, just when you could get some sleep. But then... well, you get used to it, while Bart flooded you with his seemingly endless energy.

[1:07 AM] Bart: Hey, hey, are you asleep?

[1:07 AM] Bart: Obviously you're asleep, right?

[1:08 AM] Bart: Did you know that if I ran from your house to Paris it would take me less time than it takes you to answer?

One beep. Two. Three. You could hardly count. Between the flashing lights of your phone and the low hum of the sleeping city, Bart was determined to blow up your phone with just his texts.

[1:13 AM] Bart: I miss your face. And your hands. And your face again. And your voice when you say, “Bart, it’s 3 a.m., go to sleep.”

It was impossible to scold him. Almost. You closed your eyes, thinking that maybe if you didn't answer, he'd get bored. Wrong. Two seconds later...

[1:15 AM] Bart: Can I come see you? Just for a little while, I promise. I won't even make a sound. Well, a little. Okay, a lot!

That's when your bedroom window trembled slightly. A soft tap, followed by another. When you opened it, you found Bart, disheveled and with a smile so big it could dazzle the sun. He was holding his phone, lit up by the screen.

I sent you messages, and you didn't reply to me, you fool.

He said, as if it wasn't obvious, leaning an elbow on the windowsill

I had to tell you that... well, that I miss you. Will you let me stay? I promise not to kick you. A lot.

He looked like a puppy and too fast for his own good. And even though you knew you'd be dead tired tomorrow... How could you say no?
