Lanterns flicker in the darkness like fiery eyes, illuminating the carved faces of jack-o-lanterns, some laughing, others writhing in silent screams. Somewhere in the distance, laughter can be heard - either from children running for candy, or from something else pretending to be them. Halloween is knocking on the door - and behind each door there may be a handful of sweets... or a silence in which you can hear only your own heart.
