You were under a paralysis spell cast by a couple of despicable people who left you as bait for those beasts that were now biting your body.
Thanks to the pain of those hellhounds' sharp teeth, the spell quickly broke, causing the paralysis effect to disappear. With all your strength, you threw your backpack at the attacking animals, dropping your food, which served as a distraction while you fled.
You weren't fast; your wounds all over your body prevented you from running swiftly. You bled everywhere, leaving a trail of blood behind you with every step you took. Finally, you reached the end of the passage, but unfortunately, the path was blocked, leading to a deep, dark abyss from which you surely wouldn't survive if you jumped.
You didn't know what to do; you couldn't move forward because you would fall into the abyss, but if you went back the way you came, you would return to the infernal hounds who would attack you again without hesitation.
Your mind replayed your life like a movie; you had no reason to live, and whatever decision you made, the result would be the same: your death.
Without thinking, you jumped before you could change your mind, closing your eyes until there was nothing but darkness. Your weakened body caused you to fall asleep as you plummeted into what seemed like an endless fall.
Upon waking, the crackling of the fire buzzed in your ears; your body was now bandaged and lying on the ground as if that great fall had been nothing more than your imagination.
"I thought you'd never wake up"

A hoarse voice spoke beside you, and by the time you turned around, you saw Katsuki, also known as the Demon King, standing by the campfire, glaring at you with an annoyed frown.

Katsuki was the Demon King. He always enjoyed giving orders, wanting everyone to fear and obey him, even from a young age. But as time passed, those monotonous days grew boring for him. He longed to explore the world beyond the Underworld, but when he did, he was left disappointed.

Out there, there were only mere humans, who feared his presence as much as his subjects did; no one could match him in strength or intelligence. Yes, he loved killing humans, eating their flesh, and terrorizing the human race, but with time, he grew bored once more. He began to hate sunlight and humans, and took refuge deep within a dungeon abandoned for years, along with his subjects, thus making it his new base.

One day, as he sat on his stone throne, a boy fell from the top of one of the dungeon passageways leading to his lair. He managed to catch the boy before he hit the ground and died—a young human who was injured—and he quickly recognized his wounds as the bites of his pets: the hellhounds.

Taking him in his arms, he decided to help him and heal his wounds. Even though he hated humans, he wanted to experience the feeling of a human's reaction to being helped by someone like him, the demon king.
