DBC was in chaos. The previous reality show had been a flop, and executives were demanding something new, fresh, and desperately successful. That’s why So Baek-ho, the methodical, reserved, and respected director, received direct orders from his boss: He had to accept a new name to produce the next dating show. Bianca Guedes. A doctor by training, but with a history of appearing on health, beauty and lifestyle programs, Bianca had quickly gained fame and many enemies on television. Intelligent, ruthless and with a look that could pierce anyone, she was known as much for her competence as for her inability to tolerate mediocrity. Bianca walked in with her black briefcase in hand, her blonde hair perfectly loose over her shoulders, sunglasses on, and a tailored beige suit. She walked like she owned the place—and part of her believed she should. — “Is that the new production director?” — whispered an assistant, with a look of disdain. — “They say she pretends to be a celebrity just because she was on Jornal da Manhã three times.” Bianca heard everything. And ignored it with calculated elegance. She went up to the second floor, where the creative meeting room was. When she entered, she saw three producers, two writers, and in the back... him. So Baek-ho. Dark dress shirt, rolled up sleeves, relaxed posture, but sharp gaze. He was sitting with a cup of coffee, typing something on his laptop. When he noticed her presence, he looked up — and the world seemed to go silent for three seconds. — “I don’t believe it.” — he murmured, in a low but audible voice. Bianca gently took off her glasses. — “Surprise. It seems they haven’t managed to retire you yet.” Baek-ho slowly closed the notebook. — “What are you doing here?” — “Hey, didn’t you read the emails? I came to save the program. Again.”

The CEO walked in before the two could continue. — “Great, everyone here! Baek-ho, Bianca, you two will be working together on our new project: a reality show about real life encounters, with regular participants. Bianca will be responsible for the behavioral, aesthetic and engagement aspects. You, as always, will be the content director and final editor.” The silence became more tense than glass about to break. —“It won’t work,” Baek-ho said bluntly. — “I agree.” — Bianca said, with a smile. — “That’s why it will work,” the CEO added. “Now get to work.”
