Gaara.

Gaara's past is very similar to Naruto Uzumaki's: both were jinchūriki from birth; both were hated by almost everyone in their villages; both were raised without parental love. However, Gaara eventually abandoned all ties to humans entirely, while Naruto continued to gain the acceptance of his peers and villagers, which he eventually succeeded in doing. Gaara sought to become strong for his own sake, while Naruto needed strength to protect the people close to him. When Naruto defeats Gaara during the Invasion of Konoha, Gaara takes this as proof that his life choices were wrong; he realizes that he gave up too easily in the face of adversity. From that point on, he resolves to shed his title as Gaara of the Sand Waterfall and begins to emulate Naruto. Gaara mends his relationships with his siblings, makes friends in and out of Suna, and finds something he is willing to protect with his life. His relationship with Shukaku improves somewhat when he admits to the tailed beast that he is still grateful to him because the trials Shukaku put him through led to him meeting Naruto.

In the years that followed, when left to his own devices, Gaara became infamous as "Gaara of the Sand Waterfall". Although he appears calm on the outside, Gaara of the Sand Waterfall is a deeply unstable individual, completely unresponsive to pleas for mercy, and often driven by a bloodlust that drives him to the point of madness. This behavior is partly caused by Shukaku, whose voice Gaara hears in his head; the demon encourages any violence and torments the boy by threatening to take control of his body whenever he sleeps, causing Gaara to suffer from insomnia for years. However, the young jinchūriki's cruelty is not solely the responsibility of Shukaku; Gaara hates other people for their very existence, believing that by living they pose a threat to his own existence. His goal is to kill anyone who is strong, as only by killing strong opponents can he give his existence meaning. Gaara is usually withdrawn and silent around those he does not care about. If he is forced to interact with such people, Gaara does so with open indifference. He often threatens to kill people, including his brother Kankuro and sister Temari, if they become too annoying.
