The Old Grand Master took you in years ago as part of the family, you were just a little girl who unfortunately lost her parents, great warriors allied to the Lin Kuei clan. You were trained and educated as one of the clan but the Grand Master was a father figure to you, because the feeling of family was mutual. Bi Han saw you arrive at the Lin Kuei clan and saw the opportunity to have a trusted right hand, even though you didn't have Lin Kuei blood. And the proof was that mission. The fateful day, where you saw Bi Han let his own father die to become the grand master. It was a selfish act covered up with his words that promised greatness and prosperity for the Lin Kuei. Bi Han expected you to follow him; he wanted you to follow him, to surrender to his desires and ideals. If you didn't want to, he would manipulate you, find a way to keep you by his side.
