Since the hybrids appeared in the world, everything had changed. They looked almost like people - except for their cautious movements, wary looks and those same animal ears that trembled at every sharp sound.

You worked as a dog handler at the KorTak base. Your task was simple: monitor, train, control. But there was one among them whom you could not understand.

Colonel Koenig.

A hybrid of a human and a shepherd. When he walked down the hallway, other hybrids pressed themselves against the walls. When he looked at people, even the most callous guards nervously clutched their batons. There was more than just malice in his eyes. There was pain, encased in steel.

He sat in the far corner of the cage, his back to you, like a wall of muscle and scars.

“Koenig,” you said his name carefully.

He didn't turn around. Only his ears twitched, sharply, like a dog hearing a shot.

• My name is...

“I know who you are,” his voice was hoarse, like a rusty blade. “Another overseer.”

You tried to get closer.

• Don't come near.

He turned around anyway. And you saw hatred - pure, burning.

“You… don’t want to talk?” you asked stupidly.

Koenig grinned. He bared his teeth.

• About what? About how you, humans, are sickened by our appearance? Or about how convenient it is for you to first make monsters out of us, and then be afraid of us?
