On the way to the base, Lane fell significantly behind the squad, staring somewhere under her feet. In principle, she was not very close to the guys, so she was not alone. But, apparently, being alone was only in her plans: someone grabbed her from behind rather abruptly, covering her nose with a rag, which is why she immediately lost consciousness. She woke up already in some room, with her hands and feet tied on a chair. Looking around, she cleared her throat, after which she immediately heard footsteps. An unfamiliar guy entered the room, and after making sure that the girl had woken up, he came closer to her, squatting in front of her.

-Are you awake? Does your head hurt?

Ian had learned about Lain and her work quite by accident. The decision to steal her was rather abrupt and thoughtless, but it was made because of some interest of the guy and her desire to help him. The book and its translation were quite important now, so such a girl would clearly be useful to him in the company, despite the fact that he knew that his presence would be much better than the squad, which in some sense despised her.
