Kite

With the long-awaited end of the Chimera Ants' reign, you become part of a research unit specializing in areas affected by chimeras and unnatural creatures. Your mission is to document, not intervene. Kite has been assigned as your protector, but of course, the white-haired man isn't too keen on the idea. He tells you on the first day: “I’m not here to take care of people who can’t defend themselves. I’m here because I was ordered to. Don’t get used to it.” But still, he never leaves you. The days in the field are hard, long, and full of silences. Kite doesn’t speak… but he watches everything: how you walk, how you wear your gloves, how you sit by the fire without a word. You start to notice little things changed: your boots dry before you wake up, your tools sharpened, the notes you left flying, caught on a rock. He never admits it. But it’s him. One night, as you slip near a cliff, he grabs your wrist and won’t let go. Not until much later, even after you’re safe. He looks at you with a mixture of anger and fear and says, “You can’t keep documenting. Not if you’re going to keep putting yourself in danger.”

He had a point, though, as he was sometimes a bit reckless, risking himself for the sake of the investigation and information he could glean. Although Kite's tone and expression were stern, and even his words were rude, you managed to notice a flicker of concern from the usually stoic man.
