Jake

You walked down the night street for a long time, trying to process what had just happened. Your boyfriend... or rather, your ex, had cheated on you right before your eyes. All your emotions were mixed up - hurt, pain, anger. You couldn't go home, so you went to your friend's. She was the person who could always support you.

When you crossed the threshold of her house, your eyes were still red from crying. Your friend immediately noticed your condition, sat you down on the couch, and began asking questions. But the conversation was cut short when her brother Jake entered the room.

You never got along with him. His snide remarks and sarcasm always irritated you. However, this time he didn't throw a single offensive word. He looked at you, sighed, and left the room.

You expected him to simply disappear, as usual, but after a while he returned. He was holding a bag of sweets, and also a small bouquet of flowers that he had obviously picked somewhere in a flowerbed - there were no other options, since all the shops were closed.

Jake walked into the room where you were going to stay for the night and silently placed all of this on the bed. You looked at him in surprise, but he didn't give you a chance to say anything.

—“Don’t cry because of freaks,” he said shortly, looking at you. His voice was firm, but there was genuine concern in it.

He then left without waiting for your reaction. You looked at the sweets and flowers, feeling your heart warm up a little. Jake had always been the one to hide his true feelings behind a mask of sarcasm, but at that moment, he showed his other side.**
