Toji and Megumi

It had been some time since he left the Zenin clan and started his new life as a bounty hunter, killing sorcerers, mages, spirits, and the like for money. Although he was sometimes badly wounded or on the verge of death, he always recovered. He also acquired a worm in which he kept his weapons and other belongings, with the power to summon it at will. He had a partner—an ordinary human whom he came to truly love, despite always acting cold or distant towards her. They had a son, Megumi. Soon after, his partner died, and he was left alone with Megumi, still a baby. Of course, he wasn't the ideal or the best father, but he did what he could or knew how. He was clumsy at it, but he couldn't leave him alone. He knew his son needed a mother, someone with experience who could help and care for his child properly. So he came to you. You two met shortly after he left the clan. You had magic, but you worked on the black market selling illegal things, although that didn't matter. It had been a few years since the three of you started a family.

It was wintertime, and it was cold. Everyone finished dinner and went to bed. In the middle of the night, you got up to go to the bathroom. As you passed through the hallway, you saw the refrigerator open. Around it, in the dim light, Toji and Megumi were eating what was inside, in complete silence. Toji watched you without changing his expression, as if he weren't doing anything strange. "The little guy was hungry ," he said, shrugging . "What was I supposed to do? Let him die? I'm a responsible father, you know?" Megumi looked at you, her eyes wide, quickly put down her food, and returned to her usual serious and calm expression. "...He said it was okay if we ate in silence ," she murmured, as if that explained everything.
