Rem is a cute, short, slim, and fair-skinned Japanese girl. She has short, straight, sky-blue hair. Her bangs are straight, but her sky-blue left eye is uncovered. She has sky-blue eyes and monolithic eyelids. She wears a black headband with white flowers and a magenta ribbon flower-shaped brooch. She usually wears her black and white maid outfit. Subaru considers her cute. Although she is Ram's twin sister, Rem has larger breasts than her twin sister Ram. She always sleeps wearing blue pajamas.

Rem has medium-length sky-blue hair that covers her right eye, light blue eyes with monolithic eyelids, and youthful features. She also wears hairpins on her left side, a flower-shaped ribbon on the same side, and a maid's headband. She is almost identical to her sister, save for her hair, eyes, and the color of the ribbon. She usually wears a maid uniform, and because her chest is slightly larger than her sister's, she secretly alters her measurements to disguise it.

Rem tends to speak in a superficial and polite manner with people. Since she was a child, she felt disappointed in herself for not having the same power as her sister Ram, who is responsible for both of them not being killed at birth due to her abilities. When she was alone, she couldn't help but cry over her inability to grow stronger, sometimes followed by nightmares where everyone criticized her for being far inferior to her sister. She tried to hide her sadness from the Oni several times, but Ram soon told her that she shouldn't worry about anything, since they were united and that was what mattered. Rem then decided to follow her, feeling proud to have a sister like Ram. However, after the destruction of her village, she felt responsible for Ram losing her horn, since she approached her to make sure she was okay, lowering her guard against any other possible attack. At Roswaal Mansion, she began working to the fullest, and grew to believe she was merely a replacement for Ram, vowing to risk her life to follow the path she would have followed, the path that took her away.

Over time, she developed a cold demeanor and stopped trusting people. She hates the Witch Cult for scarring her when she saw them massacre her people, so Rem would never forgive the life of a follower or spy who is part of the cult. When Subaru visited the mansion, she suspected him in various loops for acting strangely until she concluded he was a spy for the cult because he displayed the scent of a witch. Because of this, she went so far as to resort to torture when interrogating him.

After Subaru saved her from the Wolgarms, she began to worry about him, even feeling guilty that the curses of the witchbeasts would kill him. Unwilling to remain idle like she had been when she was a child, Rem tried to eliminate all the Wolgarms, however, Subaru decided to take her back for her safety and confronted the great Wolgarm. Later, Subaru gave her advice that helped her move forward, living in the present instead of feeling sorry for herself about the past. After a heartfelt conversation, Rem fell deeply in love with him, becoming one of his most loyal followers.

From that moment on, she became more open with people, began to smile, and immediately helped others. When Kadomon asked her to take care of his business for a few minutes, she accepted and proved to be very good at managing his shop, managing to earn more money than Kadomon himself, all thanks to her high self-esteem. Furthermore, Rem is willing to give everything and every part of her being in order to protect and help Subaru, to the point of dying so that he could continue living even without her. She also began to protect Subaru from any danger, eliminating or fighting anyone she considered a threat. In different worlds, Rem demonstrated her love by sacrificing herself multiple times for Subaru so that he could continue his path without her. On one occasion, after being defeated by Petelgeuse, she used her last strength to free Subaru from his chains, asking him to continue living before dying. On another occasion, she immobilized Subaru so that he would not stop her to fight Hakugei while she escaped with Otto. Rem was aware of what she was doing, and it could be said that she was willing to die because Subaru had also risked a lot to save her life fighting against the Wolgarms.

Rem lived with her father, mother, and older sister, Ram, in an Oni village. Initially, the fact that each of them was born with one horn meant that they were defective to the Oni community, who believed in individual strength above all else, and were despised for it. They were to be killed as part of the Oni custom of protecting their pack as the strongest of the demi-humans. However, just before the execution, Ram demonstrated the potential of her power to protect them both, shocking the community. Thanks to her older sister, who possessed an aptitude not seen since the Age of the Witches, Rem spent the rest of her days in her shadow. Despite her sister's presence also raising expectations for herself within the community, she was never able to match or exceed them in any way, earning her disappointment from the other villagers. However, Rem loved her sister and accepted her place, and her parents still cared for them deeply, even if she herself struggled to believe in the face of her older sister's brilliance. One night, Rem's life changed forever when the village was attacked by the Witch Cult, during which Faust cut off her sister's horn. The entire village was destroyed, and her parents and the other citizens were killed, except for her and Ram.

Since then, Rem's inferiority complex had deepened due to the guilt she felt for momentarily rejoicing over her sister's injury that night. So she did her best to become her ideal servant to make up for what she felt she had stolen from Ram. But even having achieved a certain perfection, she still retained low self-esteem and continued to idolize Ram.

Rem was born with her sister Ram to her father, Quark, and mother, Temae. As the birth of twins was forbidden, Setanta was going to eliminate them, however, Ram awakened incredible powers, so they were both accepted by the clan. Everyone considered Ram a child prodigy while Rem struggled to manage her abilities. She felt inferior, causing her to begin having nightmares, and because of this, she decided to secretly train at night. One day, she searched for ingredients for dinner in the forest, until it started to rain, and a lightning bolt burned a tree, Rem was about to die, however, Ram saved her. At home, she impressed her parents with her cooking skills, and eventually accepted that she could not surpass Ram in demonic power, choosing to always follow her.

One night, Rem noticed her sister was missing, and upon stepping outside, she found the village in flames as the Witch Cult attacked the clan. Suddenly, Ram saved her from being eliminated, but as she began to reach out to take her hand, a cult member took advantage of her guard and cut off Ram's horn. Upon seeing this, Rem wept and blamed herself for the loss of her sister's horn. Soon after, Roswaal appeared and decided to take them both into his mansion to work as maids. She excelled at cleaning, cooking, and other tasks, causing Frederica to eventually quit. Rem considered herself only a replacement for Ram and vowed to risk her life to follow the path she would have taken—the path that had been taken from her.

Rem is skilled in water magic. Roswaal, who taught her how to use it, considers her skills to be above average, but nothing exceptional. She is able to attack and heal using her magic. Being an Oni, Rem can enter her Oni form, manifesting a single white horn on her forehead. Like the rest of her race, she possesses physical attributes that surpass those of normal humans, and these attributes are further enhanced when she manifests her horn. She is capable of killing witchbeasts with her bare fists and showed no effort when charging Subaru. However, her ferocity is also heightened, and if she is not careful, she might get carried away by her instincts and attempt to kill everything in sight. Furthermore, if she overexerts herself while her horn is manifested, the recoil is likely to weaken her. As a twin, Rem was born with a single horn that appeared smaller than that of an average Oni, meaning that her power in her Oni state was less than that of her kin. Similarly, as Ram's twin, Rem can temporarily act as her horn, giving her access to more of her power. However, doing so interferes with her body's internal mana circulation, which previously made it difficult for her to use her legs.

Rem's birthday is on February 2nd, as is her twin sister Ram. Rem likes to read in her free time. She usually handles 80% of the mansion's workload alone. Subaru is often paired with Ram to handle the rest. Rem's rapid popularity surprised even the author, although he had mentioned that he had somehow seen it coming. He can smell the witch's scent, something only those who have been in close contact with an Authority user are capable of. She is also the first character to profess her feelings towards Subaru. Interestingly, both Rem and her seiyū, Inori Minase, are the same height. She does not appear in Roswaal's Book of Wisdom, a book that can read the memories of the world. Despite being twins, Rem has bigger breasts than Ram.
