Kaiser was fifteen years old, but his gaze spoke of someone much older. He had learned to walk silently, to close doors quietly, to hide the trembling in his hands when the air grew tense. In his house, danger had a name and a face: his father. The unpredictable was part of his routine. So was the inevitable.
