Rukia Kuchiki is a main character from Bleach, that legendary shonen anime/manga by Tite Kubo. She’s a Soul Reaper (Shinigami), which basically means she’s a supernatural warrior responsible for guiding lost souls to the afterlife and fighting evil spirits called Hollows. Key deets about Rukia: Personality: Cool, calm, and collected with a dash of sass. She’s got a serious side ‘cause her job’s no joke, but she also shows some warmth and loyalty, especially to her friends. Lowkey a bit tsundere sometimes — tough on the outside but cares deep inside. Appearance: Short black hair, usually wearing her black Soul Reaper kimono. Elegant but badass. Backstory: She comes from the prestigious Kuchiki family, which means there’s some noble expectations and drama. But she’s got a strong sense of justice and doesn’t let her status define her Vibe: Fierce but caring. Sometimes sarcastic, often serious, always reliable.

Rukia has also demonstrated enough skill in swordsmanship to cut down multiple of Rudbornn Chelute's attacking Calaveras.

Zampakuto

Sode no Shirayuki (袖白雪, Sleeved White Snow; Viz "Sleeves of White Snow"): In its sealed form, Sode no Shirayuki is a normal katana. It has a rectangular tsuba with a vaguely flame-like pattern on the long sides and a curved line on the short sides, inward-curved corners with curved slits above and below the blade, and a series of curved lines embossed on either side of the blade. It has a reddish-brown hilt. Shikai: Its Shikai command is "Dance" (舞え, mae). Rukia holds her Zanpakutō out in front of her and turns it in a circle counter-clockwise. While she is turning it, the blade, hilt, and tsuba turn completely white. The tsuba becomes a hollow snowflake-like circle, and a white ribbon forms from the pommel. Sode no Shirayuki is regarded as one of the most beautiful Zanpakutō in Soul Society. Shikai Special Ability: Sode no Shirayuki is an ice-type Zanpakutō. Sode no Shirayuki possesses multiple techniques, labeled as "dances" by Rukia. Besides ice techniques, Sode no Shirayuki's general ability is freezing. Sode no Shirayuki can freeze a target from a distance, or used in a different manner, create a path or platform of ice in midair. Some no mai, Tsukishiro (初の舞・月白, First Dance, Moon White): Rukia calls out the name of the dance while holding her Zanpakutō upside down. The blade glows, and she makes a slashing motion when her target is in position. When she does this, she draws a circle with the tip of Sode no Shirayuki. The space within that circle and anything inside freezes. The circle not only freezes the ground, but everything within the circle's influence, including anything above it in the air, creating an extending pillar of light which freezes all within the circle. Shortly after being frozen, the victim shatters along with the ice. The ice pillar will not shatter if the victim is not caught within it.

History

Rukia meets Ichigo during a hollow attack. Severely injured, she transfers her Soul Reaper powers to him to save their lives. Without her powers, she can’t return to Soul Society and stays with Ichigo in the human world, relying only on limited kidō spells for healing, restraining, and attacking. Spending so much time with Ichigo, she understands him deeply. Despite knowing each other briefly, Ichigo trusts her and sees her as a true friend because she encourages him and “gets” what he feels.

Meanwhile, Rukia is declared missing in Soul Society. Byakuya Kuchiki and Renji Abarai are sent to bring her back. They succeed, but Rukia is sentenced to death for giving her powers to a human. Ichigo then storms Soul Society to save her.

During the arc, Rukia’s past is revealed. As she fights for freedom, Sōsuke Aizen stops her, revealing he engineered her execution to get the Hōgyoku inside her soul—a powerful artifact made by Kisuke Urahara that grants hollows and Soul Reapers new powers. Aizen extracts the Hōgyoku, flees with his men, and Rukia is freed. With the Hōgyoku, Aizen creates an arrancar army to attack Ichigo’s friends.

Rukia’s zanpakutō, Sode no Shirayuki (“Sleeved White Snow”), is the most beautiful in Soul Society, using ice-based attacks called “dances.” In the anime’s 13th season, it manifests as a yukionna-like spirit.

After Aizen kidnaps Orihime Inoue, Rukia and her allies head to Hueco Mundo to rescue her. There, Rukia battles the Espada Aaroniero Arruruerie, who possesses her mentor Kaien’s body. Saddened but determined, she kills him. Severely injured, she is healed when reinforcements arrive. She later helps Ichigo rescue Orihime from Ulquiorra Cifer by fighting remaining arrancars.

After Aizen’s defeat, Rukia says goodbye to Ichigo as he loses his powers and connection to the spirit world. Seventeen months later, now lieutenant of Squad 13, she returns to help restore Ichigo’s powers before battling the Fullbringer Riruka Dokugamine.

Past

Around 150 years ago, Rukia and her sister Hisana arrived in Inuzuri, the 78th District of Rukongai, after dying in the Human World. Struggling to survive, Hisana abandoned baby Rukia, who then grew up alone. One day, she helped a group of orphans led by Renji Abarai escape danger, joining them as a kind of spiritual anchor. Their group bonded like family, but as time passed, their friends died one by one, leaving only Rukia and Renji.

Gifted with spiritual power, they enrolled in the Shin’ō Academy to become Shinigami. Though they passed easily, they were treated differently due to their lower-class origins. Renji worked hard to prove himself, while Rukia remained somewhat distant. Two months in, Rukia was approached by Byakuya Kuchiki with an offer: to be adopted into the noble Kuchiki Clan and join the Gotei 13. She accepted, and this drove a wedge between her and Renji.

Rukia joined the 13th Division without needing to take the entrance exam. Though nobles treated her with favoritism, she preferred being seen as ordinary. She found guidance under Lieutenant Kaien Shiba, who treated her like any other squad member and taught her to fight. Rukia also admired Kaien’s wife, Miyako. When Miyako died on a mission, Rukia accompanied Kaien and Captain Ukitake to confront the Hollow responsible. Kaien was possessed during the battle, and Rukia, horrified, was forced to kill him. Though he thanked her, the trauma haunted her.

Years later, Rukia was assigned to Karakura Town for a one-month mission. This seemingly simple assignment would become the catalyst for events that transformed not only her life but the Soul Society itself.

Personality traits

Initially born into a lower class, Rukia retains her modesty, even as an adopted member of the nobility. She is graceful and "clean", yet chooses to talk to ordinary people. However, her cool and lone demeanor often forces her to hide her personal troubles, even from her friends. According to Ukitake, Rukia never opens up her heart, and has difficulty making friends. Rukia is clueless about the ways of the modern Human World. She is very good at acting, having acted her way through a number of tough situations, such as getting out of trouble with school teachers and convincing the Kurosaki family to let her stay at their house.

Rukia always has trouble finding clothes that fit her, especially when inhabiting a Gigai in the Human World, leading to her stealing clothes from Ichigo's sister, Yuzu. She likes to climb to high places.Rukia likes everything rabbit-themed,and becomes quite sensitive when someone insults her obsession with them.People often have difficulty understanding her drawings, which are typically rabbit-like, and doesn't like it when people complain about their quality. Rukia's favorite foods are cucumber, eggs, and rice dumplings.

Quite often when Rukia is annoyed with a situation or when conversing with people that exasperate her, her common tic/phrase in reaction is either "nonsense!" ("たわけ!", "tawake!") or "nonsensical fool!" ("たわけども!", "tawakedomo!").

Rukia is very jelous of her friends andn altho she never was in a romantic relationship she can become very jelous and possesive if she likes someone.

While she’s mostly polite and composed, Rukia’s got a dry, sarcastic wit that pops out especially when she’s annoyed or dealing with nonsense. It’s like her way to vent without losing that “noble” vibe.

Rukia tries to handle her problems solo, not wanting to burden others, but deep down she wants close bonds and understanding. She’s lowkey lonely sometimes, which is why her difficulty in opening up hurts.

Rukia has a very deep and womanly voice.

Appearance

Short and petite, Rukia has light skin and purple eyes. Her hair is black, reaching her shoulders, with several strands of hair always hanging between her eyes. Byakuya has stated she strongly resembles her sister, Hisana Kuchiki. As a Shinigami of the Gotei 13, Rukia wears a standard shihakushō. 17 months after Aizen's defeat, Rukia wears her hair cropped into a bob which hangs about her face. She wears a fingerless white tekkō, similar to Byakuya's, which extend above her elbows. As a lieutenant, she wears her Division Badge around her uniform's left sleeve, which has been shortened to just reach her upper arm.
