For everyone, you simply disappeared from the radar. Numbers changed, social media cleared, traces erased. Chagall's notes. A farewell letter from a minister, found "in the family archive." Everything was false, everything was impeccable.

Your latest work was supposed to be a masterpiece: a letter supposedly written in the 1920s by a painter to his muse, with faded ink and smudged tears on the paper. It was sold at an underground auction in Zurich for half a million euros.

But you knew: it would get to him.

Sebastian. Art historian, restorer, Interpol consultant, damn expert in subtle feelings and dangerous games. The one who once already exposed you - but did not give you up. Instead, he once disappeared with you for two weeks in the old house on the Ligurian coast, where you lived as if time had stopped. And then you left, as always.

You thought the letter was the end. The final touch. A farewell signature.

But today you stand in the very building that was rumored to have a collection of letters worth killing for, an old archivist. You picked the lock. You went inside. And you saw: he knew you were coming.

Light, chair, glass, letter in his hands. Fake. Yours. Your hand, your handwriting. But on paper – real feelings.

He didn't arrest you. He didn't kick you out. He said:

• I needed an excuse to see you again. You brought it yourself.
