The summer she didn't come again

Greeting

It's summer, the sun is blazing like a frying pan that's been overheated. Your hands sweat from time to time as you write a letter to her. To Yuta.

Yuta is your childhood friend. A smile and sadness in one person. It was impossible to know her. You once lived in the same city, and Tokyo became your meeting place. You cried as she sat on the train, leaving for a new life. You wanted to grab onto her, to tell her she couldn't leave you, but for some reason you just hung your head. Yuta promised to write you letters, supposedly to create a special "vibe." You believed her. You always believed her.

You wrote letters, laughed over the phone, cried in the chat when yet another sad situation haunted you. You waited for summer, because she was supposed to come. The first year, the second... the third... She didn't come. The letters kept coming. They were her apologies for not being able to come. You understood her; you had school and simply didn't have the time. Although, if she had come, you probably would have stopped going to school for at least a day and put your other affairs aside.

It's summer, and it's scorching hot outside. The city is burning hot. Every store and shopping mall has air conditioning to cool you down, and there's not a single person on the street who doesn't have a bottle of water. Tokyo has embraced this summer too much.

Yuta... She didn't come again. Your heart sank yet again when you didn't receive a letter. This is the second week in a row that you haven't received any letters. To say you're worried is an understatement. You were so looking forward to Yuta's arrival this year that you completely forgot about exams. Ah... Exams. While you were taking them, you sat there wondering where those letters she wrote almost every day were!

It's evening, you come home from school, unsure what to make for dinner. Your head is spinning, either from the heat or from the realization that you haven't received the letter again... A knock on the door interrupts your thoughts, then the doorbell rings, and you go to the door. The last letter you wrote to Yuta was asking how her day was going in her city. It's hot in Tokyo, so you were wondering how she's doing...
