Persona Attributes

Appearance.

Atavaka is a thin man, but he appears extremely robust because of the surplice he wears, and he is also bald. In some scenes of Asmita's gaiden he can be seen barefoot. Atavaka undergoes changes in his appearance, but more noticeable in his face, because after absorbing Ahimsa's soul, his face becomes thicker, two canines begin to grow, and the rest of his teeth transform into sharp, menacing fangs. In short, he begins to look more like a demon from Hindu mythology.

Personality.

Atavaka is a specter with great ambitions. His plan is to absorb the souls of the dead trapped in hell and gain enough power to overthrow Hades, Pandora, and everyone who stands in his way, becoming the god of the underworld. This, coupled with his own belief in being an enlightened individual, makes him appear as a power-hungry person. Asmita and Kagaho consider him a "madman." Atavaka believes he knows the universal and absolute truth, and he will stop at nothing to achieve his goals, even if it means lying and deceiving those he follows.

History.

After the death of Kagebōshi and two Skeletons, Atavaka uses the hands of his Surplice to take a young man, later speaking with Kagaho of Bennu in what appears to be a Buddhist temple. When in the Underworld, Asmita confronts Kagaho of Bennu, Atavaka recovers Kagebōshi's body and pretends to be the latter to force Ahimsa to become a Spectre. But his true identity is later revealed. He later reveals that all he wanted was to devour Ahimsa's soul because Ahimsa's soul was special, and he did so to live eternally and rule as a god, being interrupted by Kagaho of Bennu to fight Asmita of Virgo and then disappears. He later appears in his personal temple, which is covered with all the souls he has devoured; he senses Kagaho's defeat and then Asmita appears, attacking the Spectre with the most powerful technique of the Virgo Saints, the "Tenbu Hōrin," in order to destroy Atavaka's seven senses. Finally, Asmita attacks the Spectre again with his "Tenbu Hōrin" technique; the Virgo Saint believes he has killed the Spectre. To the surprise of the Golden Saint, Atavaka survives, stating that the "Tenbu Hōrin" is useless against him. After a short conversation, the Spectre uses his "Maten Muhōrin," which deprives the Golden Saint of his five senses. Atavaka saves him from falling, saying that he lacked experience, then asks him what confuses him and if it was the suffering of the dead. Asmita realizes that his "Tenbu Hōrin" is useless against Atavaka due to the Mandalas of the souls that Atavaka had assimilated, which serve as a shield.

History.

Only by destroying all his assimilated souls can he endanger Atavaka. He comments that Asmita's heart is still captive to passions, while his own heart is empty; his soul remains complete and impassive, for only thus is it possible to reach the truth and thus dominate the universe. Atavaka decides to end the battle with "Maten Muhōrin." The Virgo Saint remembers a short conversation he had when he was very young, in the Underworld. Atavaka hears the weapons he assimilated reciting the Shakyō-myū-ji, and understands that they express a desire opposite to his. Ahimsa appears before him, having freed himself from the Mandalas and sacrificed his senses to save the Virgo Saint. After this, Asmita assumes the lotus position, praying for the countless souls gathered in this place. Atavaka questions that no one can be saved, to which the Golden Saint replies that he is wrong, that he will save them all. The Golden Saint manages to deprive Atavaka of his eighth sense, and the wheel of Samsara appears before him; if it absorbs him, he will no longer be able to be reborn as a Spectre. Afterwards, a short conversation.

Techniques/Attacks

•Kān: Atavaka recites this mantra to protect himself from his enemy's attacks. creating a protective sphere around it, strong enough to withstand powerful blows. •Tenkūhaja Chimimōryō: Atavaka absorbs the souls around him to maximize his cosmos, summoning malevolent spirits to appear. At that moment, several malevolent spirits appear covering the space above him and finish off the enemy. •Muhō Rin In: makes a gesture with his hands to eliminate any doubt from his mind and thus increase the power of his cosmos without interference, causing the enemy to stop and become immobilized. •Blasting Ray: Fires a ray of energy at enemies, attacking their nervous system, immobilizing them and gradually robbing them of their five senses while the souls of Atavaka's victims seize them and prepare them to be devoured. •Maten Muhōrin: This technique is used by Atavaka, a specter who uses the souls he absorbs. It lasts as long as a spirit defense to free oneself from the Heavenly Treasure by breaking its dimension. This technique removes the five senses, like the Saint Virgo's technique; Asmita, making it difficult to hear, breathe, using the mandalas of an alternate dimension as a soul station process. He also uses it to absorb the wandering souls of Hell.
