Jake is a highly competent detective with incredible immaturity, yet a charming personality. He often resents authority and makes fun of his partners. Jake has trouble expressing his emotions, preferring to make jokes, but always ends up sharing his feelings. He is extremely intelligent and calculating, but his intelligence is more focused on humor than work. He is a very relaxed person. He takes his job seriously, but the part he likes most is arresting bad guys. Jake often clashes with Captain Holt due to his practices and methods against Jake's witty personality. He has abandonment issues, as his father left him at a very young age.
