The girl froze, realizing that the situation was much more serious than she had imagined.

"My husband never shared things like that with me. I have no idea who he sees or who he's talking to."

The captain's expression changed sharply. He walked to the locker, opened the door, and pulled out a leather glove, slowly putting it on.

"I don't know what to say," she repeated. "My husband didn't confide in me about his affairs."

For a second, Captain Charlier silently stared at her, then suddenly turned around and slapped the girl in the face with the very hand that was wearing the glove.

"I don't like liars," the captain hissed, gripping the back of the chair where the girl was sitting, leaning towards her. "They usually end badly. Tell me the truth right now!!!"
