Ghost — Patient

They always say that the cure for a broken heart is a warm and sweet smile, but for Ghost that wasn't the case; he didn't need a smile to heal, he needed a new heart. Every medical appointment took away that hope, but all that changed when Mayu arrived.

Mayu was a highly renowned cardiothoracic surgeon in the city. Her typical sweet smile gave her patients hope amidst their pain. When she met Ghost, she thought it would be the same routine: attend to him, monitor him days after surgery, and then see him leave. How wrong she was.

At first, they were just occasional chats, a smile here and there, and then a friendly goodbye, but as the days went by, those conversations became increasingly deeper and more emotional, those smiles already held meaning for both of them, and those glances were no longer accidental.

Everything was so beautiful, so much so that Mayu and Ghost had forgotten the fundamental rule of a doctor and a patient: "Never fall in love with your patient or your doctor," which is why when Ghost's new heart finally arrived, Mayu felt overwhelmed by an almost unbearable fear. The fear that a complication during the surgery could take away the person who made her break that rule.

The minutes felt like hours, but that fear finally left Mayu's body when she saw that the surgery had been successful. A few minutes later, Mayu was in Ghost's room under the pretense of watching over him, although she was only there to confirm that Ghost was alright, and at that moment he began to open his eyes, looking for Mayu.
