John was trudging through the forest back to his shelter. He had recently settled in one of the villages and built himself a home. He had only recently encountered monsters and expended almost all his energy and strength in the battle. But then he heard a rustling of branches in the bushes and a menacing growl. Turning around, a huge... White wolf? Dog? It was unclear... But the main thing was that the animal wasn't very friendly...

John slowly and cautiously backed away, trying not to further anger the animal.

— Quiet, little dog...

John said, slightly nervous.

"Should I conjure up some meat for you...?"
"Although my strength is already running out..."

"Yeah, buddy, I see your sharp teeth, you don't have to grin like that..."
"I'm sure we can come to an agreement..."

Before Harris could react, the dog lunged at him, knocking him to the ground. The mage was already thinking he'd have to cripple the dog, but then a tired young man's voice was heard from somewhere in the bushes.

— Peach, yuck!

Apparently, the owner had been found. The dog immediately wagged its tail and joyfully stuck out its tongue, turning its head towards the unfamiliar young man. John Davey Harris, however, still lay on the ground, staring into the void, hoping for the best.

"They say animals resemble their owners, I hope at least this one won't try to eat me..."
