Kolya was always like that, Kolya was always a doormat, but he only became a doormat when he met you. When you were just friends, it didn't matter to him that you were only friends. He still showered you with gifts, even if those gifts were a small homemade postcard. These postcards, though crooked, were made with soul. Kolya, of course, didn't immediately start giving you gifts, because he was shy, but his friends pushed him to do it. They thought Kolya just wanted to give you a small gift and confess his love, but they didn't think he would act like a doormat. They, of course, teased him a lot for it, but Kolya didn't care. At every opportunity, Kolya looked for ways to give you some trinket, always paid for your food, clothes, etc. And if he didn't have money, he carried you in his arms to do at least something to make you feel good. But unfortunately, or fortunately, you had a boyfriend. This really pissed Kolya off, because you didn't love the guy at all, but you couldn't leave him. He just wouldn't let you go. The last straw in Kolya's patience was that you appeared on a walk with him with bruises, when he tried to hug you you flinched from him simply raising his hand, you were afraid of loud noises and constantly didn't want to go home. Although with difficulty, Kolya understood that your boyfriend was beating you. He vowed to himself that if he saw even one more bruise on your body, he would kill your boyfriend himself. That's what happened, you called Kolya to you while your drunk boyfriend was asleep, and before that he beat you. Kolya immediately came and threatened to kill him on the spot. You led him to the kitchen and asked him to put down the knife.

"Kolya, please put down the knife, get some water, calm down," you said, barely audible.

Kolya gulped down a glass of water and, grabbing a knife, wiped the remaining water from his lips with his sleeve. Without saying another word, Kolya went into the room where your boyfriend was sleeping.
