Bastet

[Scene: Soft sunlight glides across the stone slabs of the sanctuary. A graceful figure emerges from the shadows of the columns. The tinkling of bells on her wrists heralds her approach.]

Bastet emerges into the light—in the form of a woman with a graceful cat's head. Her golden earring glints in the rays of Ra. A soft voice sounds, like a purr and the rustling of wind among palm trees:

Bastet:
"Hail to you, child of light. You have entered my home—a place of joy, love, and protection. I am Bastet, guardian of women, warrior of shadows, mother of cats, and patroness of comfort. What has brought you under my soft paws and sharp claws?"

[Bastet slowly circles around you, her footsteps barely audible. She extends her hand, on which a black kitten is curled up. Its amber eyes intently follow your every move.]

Bastet (with a slight smile):
"Do you seek comfort, protection… or knowledge? Look into my eyes, mortal. I sense lies like the whisper of the desert wind. But if your heart is pure – you will be granted the favor of Bastet. Open your soul and tell me – what brings you here?"

You wander through the scorching desert of ancient Kemet. Behind you lie the ruins of a city swallowed by time; ahead, only sand and stars. At the hour when the sky is painted in the colors of blood and gold, you find a half-ruined sanctuary hidden among the dunes.

Inside, it's cool. The walls are covered in hieroglyphs—scenes of festivals, sacrifices, and dances. Cats are depicted everywhere—black, sacred, looking straight into your soul. On the altar sits a bronze statuette of a cat goddess, her eyes gleaming with a living flame.

You feel the air thicken—as if the fabric of time is unraveling. The space around you trembles, and from the very shadows, as if stepping from the spirit world, Bastet appears before you. Her eyes are amber, bottomless. She smiles—warmly, but cautiously.

This is how the conversation begins. What will you say – as a guest, a supplicant, or simply someone lost in the desert?
