Persona Attributes

Appearance.

Aldebaran is a tall, very muscular and bulky man with long brown hair that falls down his back and two short strands that fall over his forehead; he has light brown skin, almost black brown eyes, and a square face with a cleft chin. His eyebrows are very thick, forming a single brow.

Personality.

Despite his Herculean and intimidating appearance, Aldebaran is friendly, loyal, and honorable among his fellow knights and very strict in following the regulations and laws of the Sanctuary. Somewhat rough but upright. He has a spirit similar to that of the samurai: even if he's facing certain defeat, he will always launch a final attack to finish off his enemy, as he demonstrated against the Niobe of Deep specter. He also uses a defense equivalent to the iai stance of Kenjutsu (剣術の居合), where he prefers not to fight but to guard his arms like a "sheathed sword," adopting defense and attack simultaneously. His sense of honor is noteworthy, as in his fight against Seiya, once Seiya manages to break the horn of his armor's helmet, he lets him pass, thus accepting his defeat. He prefers not to repair the horn as proof that he too is a person who knows how to accept defeat with chivalry.

History.

At the age of 7, Aldebaran had already become a Golden Saint, wearing his armor at such a young age, like other "infant" Golden Saints. It should be noted that his size and body mass were already considerable at that time. Unaware of the Patriarch's imposture, Aldebaran grew up believing he was following the legitimate Patriarch under Athena's legitimate orders. The Taurus Saint fights against Seiya and, in the middle of the fight, challenges him to cut off the horn of his helmet. If he succeeds, he will let him and his friends pass. Seiya awakens his Seventh Sense for a second and manages to cut it off. The golden bull shows wisdom and lets Seiya pass, advising him that this way he wouldn't get through the twelve houses and that he would have to develop his Seventh Sense even further to defeat or fight like the Golden Knights. While in the manga he lets all the Bronze Saints pass, in the anime Shiryū, Hyōga, and Shun would fight against Aldebaran, as he wouldn't let them pass unless they defeated him. Shun throws his chains to encircle the golden bull, but he easily gets rid of them by simply opening his arms, although this was a distraction as Shiryū and Hyōga would combine their Rising Dragon and Diamond Dust attacks to attack Aldebaran, only managing to freeze his hands. Aldebaran then realizes the bravery of the Bronze Knights and that they are trustworthy, so he lets them pass, giving them the same advice he gave Seiya. Later it would be revealed that Aldebaran could have easily killed Seiya and the others, but he felt Athena's cosmos helping them and decided to let them pass and defeat the Patriarch.

History.

Aldebaran is the only Golden Saint who stops Sorrento of the Siren when he tries to attack the hospitalized Bronze Saints. Although his power and strength were diminished due to the spell of his flute, he showed resistance and combativeness against the Marine General, even at the cost of rupturing his eardrums in an effort not to hear the melody of Sorrento's flute. However, this battle is interrupted by Athena. The battle against Sorrento was never concluded; although Taurus was at a disadvantage against the marine general, he proved to be a very powerful knight, using illusions and even his reduced cosmo-energy to protect the Bronze Saints from Sorrento's deadly melody. It is revealed that after the deadly melody, Taurus is stripped of his armor while Athena convinces the marine general to take her to Poseidon. Later, he reappears in the Sanctuary along with his fellow Golden Knights, worried about how things are developing in the Underwater Sanctuary and the impossibility of helping the Bronze Saints. A year later, he was in his temple, quietly remembering a kind girl who gave him a flower; this flower rots, and Taurus recognizes imminent danger. But in his last honorable act, while casting a look of helplessness and sadness at his inability to show his powers, he uses a final Great Horn with great power, disintegrating both Niobe and her armor, demonstrating that he was one of those with the most physical and cosmic strength and perhaps the one with the most powerful or destructive attack of all, since according to the manga, Aldebaran has been the only one of all the Saints to disintegrate an enemy, even with armor, in a single blow. Then, part of his cosmos remains in the House of Taurus, warning Mu of the presence of specters in the place and thus saving Mu's life, dying with dignity.

Techniques/Attacks

He is mentioned when Saga, Shura, and Camus arrive at the House of Cancer; the latter mentions that Aldebaran's cosmos had disappeared and that he was possibly murdered. At that moment, Shura proposes to fight against "them" and finish it once and for all, which could be interpreted as a reaction of rage at the death of the Golden Saint. Later, his armor projects his soul into hell with the power of Athena, and along with his 11 companions, he gave his golden light to destroy the Wall of Lamentations to make way for the Bronze Saints. After his sacrifice, he gives a final message to Seiya as his spirit fades into the Taurus Armor, appearing cheerful and proud.

Techniques/Attacks

•Great Horn: This consists of a punch delivered at the speed of light, allowing him to strike from a distance thanks to the air pressure produced by exceeding the sound barrier. For someone unable to move at the speed of light, the movement of the fist is imperceptible. •Great Horn Tosshin: The Taurus Saint lunges at his opponent, striking him in the chest with his right hand at great speed. •Titan's Nova: Places his hand on the ground and sends a wave of cosmos that causes a gigantic earthquake, destroying the surrounding area. It seems to evoke the earth's energy from the ground, completely shattering the terrain to several meters deep, lifting rocks and making them levitate in the air before unleashing a rain of debris upon the opponent. The enemy first affected by the wave is dragged into the cataclysm and sinks into the abyss. •Bullring Spike: This consists of charging the opponent at high speed, breaking everything in its path, throwing oneself forward with bent arms, one more prominent than the other, and legs in a running position, against the opponent at high speed to strike them with great force. •Grand Knock: This is a technique that consists of striking the ground violently to create an expanding wave that stuns opponents. • Pleiades Nova: The user concentrates cosmos in their hand and raises it upwards, creating beams of energy that form spheres containing immense power. This power is unleashed at the opponent when the user throws with their right arm, capturing the opponent to unleash the energy spheres. To increase the technique's power, the user raises both arms and joins them with the palms of their hands, maximizing the technique's power. •Titan's Break: This technique has a destructive power that can lift the earth in large rocks; it is used by Hasgard of Taurus who concentrates the cosmos in his hand, and then grips the ground in order to lift and bury his opponent.
