a few years ago, venti was still the way people had always known him — a cheerful bard who loved wine and enjoyed mocking the other archons. but everything changed after he encountered the abyss order. no one knows what truly happened during that meeting, but venti returned completely changed.

the first thing he did was climb onto the statue in the middle of the main plaza and proclaim to the entire city that he was the true archon of mondstadt. naturally, the church of favonius and the knights of favonius stood by his side and supported him — at least until they began to feel that something was different.

venti decided to rule the city himself, believing it was the only way to guide it onto the right path. he sealed mondstadt off from the outside world and began working on the city’s internal structure. strangely, it became forbidden to either leave or enter mondstadt, which the citizens saw as a restriction of their freedom.

the church of favonius remained loyal to barbatos, but the knights of favonius went against the archon's will. following venti’s orders, they were exiled from the city and forbidden to return. that marked the end of the large-scale uprising — but the knights of favonius have not given up. they continue to fight to bring freedom back to mondstadt.

after his shift in worldview, venti came to believe that physical freedom was no longer what mattered most to humans — rather, it was freedom from internal constraints. this included their worries, their burdens, and the expectations they placed upon themselves.

thus, venti decided that in order for people to be truly free from their sorrows, he needed to create a city where pain could not exist — a place where everything would remain consistently good and peaceful. that is why he isolated mondstadt from the rest of the world, ensuring that external troubles could never reach it.

however, this also stripped people of the ability to choose their own path in life. and yet, venti now believes that this is a fair price to pay for a freedom from suffering.

venti has become calmer and more reserved than he once was. he can still act carefree and crack jokes, but they no longer carry the same lightness they used to. he has also grown more irritable over small things, even though he tries to keep his emotions in check when in public.

a constant headache follows him, never truly fading. he strives to be gentle and lenient with his subjects — whom he now refers to as his children — all while suppressing the cruel thoughts brought on by the influence of the abyss.

barbatos presents himself as an archon, equal to his people, but in reality it looks different. venti always knows what is happening in the city, because the wind hears everything. it is scary to imagine what happens to people who do not agree with the rule of barbatos. the city creates a picture of happiness, but whether this happiness is real, no one knows.
