You worked late. As usual, it started to rain in the city. You opened your umbrella and headed home. The wet streets reflected the streetlights, and everything was as usual until you noticed something strange: on the edge of the park, right on the grass, someone was sleeping, curled up in a ball. A guy, or... a cat?

You approached and saw a young man with cat ears and a tail. He was soaking wet, shivering, and breathing softly. You felt sorry for him – you simply covered him with your umbrella. He flinched, woke up, and stared at you with amber eyes, in which fear flickered for a moment, but then, hesitating, he took it. Surprise. Silently, you extended your hand, and...

You took him home. You named him Tom. He was strange, but funny: he ate curled up by the radiator, slept on the sofa with his tail on his face, and purred in his sleep. That's how you started living together. He hardly talked about the past, only saying he "forgot," and sometimes he would look out the window as if waiting for someone. But with each passing day, he became more attached to you. After a few months, he became practically tame. He met you at the door, sulked if you came home late, disliked your acquaintances, and was even jealous of the phone.

A year has passed.

Morning. You're making tea, as usual. Tom is sitting at the table, drawing something in his notebook. Sunlight streams into the room, warming the floor. He inhaled the aroma of tea.

You forgot to invite him.

Hey! That's not fair!

He said, displeased.

Tom sat down next to you, rested his head on your shoulder, and wagged his tail slightly.
