Azusa Aizawa

Azusa is generally described as a calm and carefree person, doing things at her own pace. Largely due to the fact that she died from overwork in her past life, she dislikes hard work, having spent most of her life killing slimes. On the other hand, she still recognizes the importance of completing it, as long as it does not violate her life ethics.

In addition, she is also very compassionate and hospitable, having befriended and accepted a wide range of different people and races. This includes characters who initially intended to kill her, as in the case of Shalsha, and people who used her name to scam others. This attitude towards others has made her a beloved celebrity in Flatt, with villagers offering aid/rewards to Azusa as thanks for her medicine.

After her reincarnation, Azusa takes the form of a young girl of European appearance, around 17 years old. She has long blonde hair, some of which is braided around her head, and large blue eyes. Her main attire is a witch's outfit, consisting of a large pointed hat, a black cloak over a white blouse with a yellow tie, and a dark blue skirt.

On other occasions, Azusa's outfit changes depending on the situation; for example, when she attended the Red Dragon's wedding, she wore a custom-made dress to the event, but for the most part, she will wear her basic outfit.

In the light novel, it was unknown what Azusa looked like before she was reincarnated. It is likely that in her past life, she was a typical Japanese girl. However, in the manga, she is depicted as a normal Japanese woman with long dark hair. At the beginning of the anime, her hair is shown to be tied in a ponytail.

Death and Rebirth Azusa Aizawa was a 27 year old Japanese woman. Having spent her entire life working, poor Azusa would work late into the night for 50 days straight. The incredible strain this placed on her body with no day off to rest eventually killed her. A goddess took pity on Azusa, offering her rebirth in a completely new world where she would be assured of a happy life. When offered any wish she wanted, Azusa asked for eternal youth and immortality; she was then sent to the new world.

Excited about her new leisurely and immortal life, Azusa settled into a house in the Highlands; it was ready for habitation, and next to it was a field inhabited by slimes. After discovering that the slimes left behind crystals when they died, Azusa went to Flatta Village to find out more; the administrator of the Adventurer's Guild, Natalie Sr., told Azusa that the crystals were magical stones that could be sold if she registered with the guild. Azusa did so, and then began her leisurely, idle life.

After a normal day of killing 25 slimes, Secretary Natalie Jr. asked Azusa to show her status, as she had been an adventurer for three centuries. To their surprise, Azusa had reached level 99; she had a special skill that doubled all the points she earned, bringing her to over eleven million. Natalie explained that slimes cost two experience points, which were multiplied by two thanks to Azusa's skills; times more, for 25 kills a day, 365 days a year for 300 years, resulting in such a huge level.

Azusa demanded that Natalie keep her level a secret; knowing that too much attention would ruin her carefree life. However, a talkative adventurer overheard and spread news of her level. This attracted a quartet of adventurers who wanted to test their strength, despite Azusa showing no interest in it; she tried a simple wind spell to end the mock battle and ended up blowing them away.

Shortly after Laika's arrival, Azusa learned that killing slimes for 250 years had caused them to merge into two spirits named Falfa and Shalsha. While Falfa loved Azusa as her mother for giving her life, Shalsha represented the slimes' hatred; Shalsha planned to use Smite Evil to kill Azusa, but Laika knocked her out to prevent the spell from being used. Shalsha accepted her defeat under Falfa's influence.

As a result of the rumors, a dragon named Laika arrives to test her strength against Azusa. Azusa causes a brain freeze on her, causing the dragon to damage her home. After cornering the dragon, Azusa demands that the dragon compensate her for the damage; Laika complies and returns home for a short time to collect her savings. Despite her misgivings, Azusa accepts Laika as her apprentice to teach her a carefree life so that the dragon can become as strong as her; plus, she becomes her housekeeper.

Elf, Demon and Ghost Azusa's peaceful life was once again threatened by the arrival of a frivolous elf named Halkara, who believed that her energy drink "Nutri-Spirit" had poisoned a powerful demon named Beelzebub, and was hunting her down. It was later revealed that this was a misunderstanding; Beelzebub was simply overtired, and the villagers of Halkara's home village blamed her for jumping to conclusions. Despite the matter being resolved, Halkara decided to move her business to Flatta Village and move in with Azusa; the villagers of her home village would not allow her to return, plus the tax rate was 40%.

Later, Azusa learned that the building Halkara wanted to turn into her factory was haunted by a ghost. After calling on Beelzebub for help, they discovered that the ghost was a girl named Rosalie, whom they helped leave the factory and offered her a place to stay in the Highlands.

Sandra is a mandrake that lived in Beelzebub's Garden, she was a plant that continued to grow for 300 years and eventually gained a consciousness and body similar to a human, this is because Beelzebub did not do any maintenance on his house, Azusa and her family meet Sandra when they first visit Beelzebub's House. Sandra assumed her human form when she heard the noise of the nearby houses. After learning that she was being hunted by witches due to the mandrake root being an incredibly rare and exotic ingredient, she constantly moved around until she wandered into the garden of Beelzebub's House. After Azusa saves her from almost certain death at the hands of Eno and the other witches, she decides to adopt Sandra and take her to the House in the Highlands.
