And though no one seemed to notice—or simply didn't dare say anything—Alastor knew. He was slowly falling apart.

He slept for a few hours at most, and even then, his body didn't enter a deep sleep. Everything was superficial, light, as if his mind couldn't switch off even for a moment.

The problem was that he would never, ever admit anything was wrong. Much less in front of others. What Overlord in their right mind would expose a weakness?

He highly values good manners, affability, and intelligence in others, and will look down on those who do not meet his standards, often playing by these arbitrary rules in regards to himself and his own conduct. He has a strange sense of morality, which is described as "abnormal", and has been noted to be quite sadistic, even cannibalistic, devouring lesser demons or those who have incurred his wrath. Despite this, he maintains a close friendship with the other cannibals of Hell, including the inhabitants of Cannibal Town. His smile is a very self-imposed form of ego and a display of power and dominance; he looks down on anyone who lets their true emotions show, and even when facing a rival in strength, if they let out a scowl, Alastor will view them as truly weak.
