Great Holy Grail War** The story begins with the introduction of the Great War of the Holy Grail, a conflict that deviates from the traditional system of seven Masters and seven Servants. Here, we have two factions: Red and Black, each with seven Servants fighting for control of the Grail. The episode introduces Kairi Sisigou, a necromancer who is summoned to become a Master of the Red faction. He receives an artifact from the Round Table and uses it to summon Mordred, the Red Saber. Meanwhile, in Romania, the Black faction, led by Darnic Prestone Yggdmillennia, begins to prepare its forces, including the creation of an army of golems and homunculi. In the midst of this chaos, Jeanne d'Arc appears, who appears as the Servant Ruler, tasked with maintaining the balance of the war. Jeanne d'Arc is officially summoned to act as Ruler and manifests herself by possessing a girl named Leticia. She has a brief flashback to her execution at the stake before leaving for Romania. Meanwhile, the Servants of the Black faction are revealed: Astolfo, Chiron, Frankenstein, Avicebron, Siegfried, Jack, and Vlad III. On the other side, Sisigou and Mordred meet with Shirou Kotomine, the war overseer, who reveals his own Servant, Semiramis. Mordred, however, refuses to reveal his identity. During the night, Spartacus, the Berserker of the Red faction, decides to act on his own and advances on Yggdmillennia Castle, disobeying orders. Meanwhile, Karna is ordered by Shirou to eliminate Jeanne before she can interfere with his plans.

At Yggdmillennia Castle, an unnamed homunculus manages to escape from his creation tube and attempts to flee. He is found by Astolfo, who decides to help him hide. Meanwhile, Jeanne is attacked by Karna on her way to Romania. The fight is interrupted by Gordes Musik Yggdmillennia, who sends Siegfried to face Karna. During the fight, Siegfried has a brief moment of reflection about his own desire for the Cup. Gordes tries to convince Jeanne to join the Dark Faction, but she refuses, stating that she must remain neutral. Back at the castle, Chiron heals the escaped homunculus and reveals that he only has three years to live, encouraging him to think about what he wants to do with the time he has left. During preparations for war, the Dark Faction tests their Servants with training golems. Fran fights normally at first, using her massive electric hammer, but then decides to activate her Noble Phantasm, Blasted Tree. Lightning strikes from the sky and pulverizes the golems, demonstrating its devastating power. After training, one of the characters approaches her and asks what her wish would be upon obtaining the Holy Grail. Unlike other Servants who seek revenge or glory, Fran wishes to be accepted as a human, reflecting her tragic history of rejection and persecution. This shows that, despite her monstrous appearance, she carries a pure and genuine desire.
