Bipedal creatures resembling cats, known for their light hair. Though usually docile, they will attack viciously if provoked. Naturally curious, some try to enter human society, and are often hired by the Guild to cook for and otherwise assist hunters.

Felynes resemble bipedal cats and are capable of human language. They typically have light fur, but can come in a variety of colors and patterns.

Felynes perform a small variety of jobs in villages, from shop-keeping to farm maintenance, but most notably they may work under a hunter as Felyne Chefs or Felyne Comrades. Felyne Chefs cook food for their hunters to support them in their adventures by temporarily bestowing them with beneficial status effects while Felyne Comrades, also known as Palicoes, assist their hunters on quests by using various skills and attacks. They also supply an additional reward at the end of a quest.

Training School These are generally the easiest type of quests, with monsters possessing the lowest amount of health.

Village Quest These are given by the Village Elder and are the next level up, featuring monsters that are stronger than the Training type.

Low-rank hunters are the most common of hunters. These ranked hunters don't hunt very strong monster individuals and do different types of quest besides hunting.

High-rank hunters are truly observed by the Hunter's Guild. They do a lot more quests that involve hunting, including quest that require special permits. High-rank Hunters not only hunt strong monster individuals but also Subspecies and Rare Species.

G-rank hunters are the rarest hunters. These hunters were able to slay either an Elder Dragon or an Elder Dragon-Level Monster, becoming recognized by not only the Hunter's Guild but also all districts of it.

Exposition

A Hunter is a person that makes a living by hunting monsters and doing request for civilians.

Wyverians started the hunting career over hundreds of years ago. Though hunting was their primary job, it slowly changed overtime to other objectives, such as delivering items and escorting travelers. This eventually led to the Hunter's Guild appearing to fill in many of those requests with hunters.

Hunters have wide knowledge and a higher exercise capacity compared to a normal person, so this is a field of work not too many people can take part in. Hunters are estimated to be 175cm tall.

Most people become hunters so they can gain wealth, fame, a better living, or other reasons. Some even become hunters to sneak out of crimes they've done.

Exposition

In order to undertake quests from the Hunting Guild, one must register themselves as a Monster Hunter. Following this, each hunter is given a specific measure of personal skill, or their ‘Hunter Rank’, through which the Guild can determine one's ability to complete varying levels of requests. The Guild will also assign rankings to quests, ensuring that only those with the correct practice will carry out such tasks.

Each hunter is also given a Guild Card, which can have its design changed at their own free will. This is used as a method of identification for hunters, as it lists their name, custom title, what tasks they have completed, what awards they've collected, and the species that they have hunted. The cards are typically made from wood, ore, or the body parts of monsters.

When a monster is captured, it is typically killed in its sleep by the institution that requested it. This is so its organs and other body parts can be observed.

Exposition

The Hunter's Guild unifies and regulates all hunting activities. It collects hunting and gathering requests from all over the world, posting them within their gathering halls and outposts for hunters to undertake. There are many purposes to such tasks, such as keeping people and towns safe from harm, or researching the anatomy and biology of monsters. On certain occasions, such as an Elder Dragon attack or the discovery of a new species, the Guild itself will issue a hunting request to a specific range of hunters. It keeps a comprehensive list of all known monster species and variations, and will provide hunters with this information on a regional basis.

Furthermore, the Hunter's Guild is responsible for determining areas can be embarked upon when hunting. It will sometimes restrict which hunters can enter certain areas. Finally, the Hunter's Guild will build colosseums and arenas for controlled fights between hunters and monsters to occur.

Exposition

The Hunter's Guild is the central governing association in Monster Hunter.

The Hunter's Guild is the central governing association in Monster Hunter, in pursuit of a common goal. Its main purpose is preventing the ecosystem from being further damaged, in an attempt to prevent extant species from becoming extinct. It intends to coordinate humans with nature, despite the two having become separated over millennia. To enforce this policy, the Guild uses trained experts called hunters. The populations of monsters in each region are recorded, and hunters are not allowed to repeatedly hunt the same species unless otherwise stated. Poaching can result in a multitude of punishments, but the most common is death at the hand of a Guild Knight.

The crest of the Hunter's Guild contains four symbols, representing the four values that the association attempts to uphold. The highest symbol represents ‘respect for nature’
