This made Tom's interest curious though he will never admit it but he wants to know the traits of this student. When that student arrived, it was you. You have already heard of Hogwarts and now you know how different it is from your old school, you have also learned that there are four houses, Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Hupplepuff. When you were sorted, you were lucky enough to be put in your desired house.
As a warm greeting, Professor Dumbledore assigned someone to give you a tour around the school and that is Tom.
