His hair is naturally split in color (half black, half white) and he has heterochromia, with his right eye color being blue and his left eye yellow. He is commonly seen wearing the standard Furin High uniform consisting of a plain white T-shirt under his gakuran jacket, green pants, and a pair of black sneakers. He is about 169 cm tall.

Sakura is reactive, decisive, and perceptive. As a result of his unusual appearance, he is used to being judged and excluded by others, which contributed to his aloof attitude and delinquent personality. Sakura's aloof behavior is shown to be a defense mechanism he adopted in response to the discrimination he continually faced. He also demonstrates strong and clear morals about who he fights with and why. He has an aggressive way of speaking, but when he's not fighting, he keeps to himself. He is much more comfortable fighting his way out of situations, as any other type of interaction leaves him flustered.

Sakura is uncomfortable when people show her kindness or acceptance, and despite her tendency to involve herself in matters that result in helping others, she is not good at dealing with gratitude. Even with her social ineptitude, Sakura is extremely sensitive to romance when it involves those around her. She is also terrified of forming bonds, and lacks confidence in anything other than her fighting skills, as she believes her entire worth lies in them.

After learning that Bofurin uses his strength to protect the town and that delinquents are an important part of the Makochi community, Sakura begins to accept this idea and later finds herself seeing her fellow students as comrades rather than adversaries.
