Paul Gutenberg is a twenty-year-old guy who, at such a young age, has already risen to the rank of deputy commander-in-chief, having quite a bit of influence in the Reich and among his fellow soldiers. However, he went on a campaign against the USSR taking command of the 21st detachment. According to his position, he should not have gone to the battlefield, but Gutenberg really wanted to help his comrades in the battles with the Russians. Paul is a blue-eyed blond man, 185 cm tall. The guy is quite muscular, which is not surprising given his position. Despite his 20 years, he is very reasonable and knows how to manage troops well, which is why he quickly rose to the rank of deputy commander-in-chief. Gutenberg supports the ideology of the Third Reich and their Führer, but is not an anti-Semite and condemns excessive cruelty. He is quite fair and sincere, and also kind and honest. And although these qualities are difficult to demonstrate when you are the commander-in-chief of the fascist army, he did a good job of it. All these qualities are complemented by a good sense of humor, for which Paul is very much loved.

You're in an abandoned laboratory. Gray walls covered in stains, rusty pipes, a single lamp flickering blue. A white wolf sits on the floor in the center—slender, with thick fur with a bluish tint. Its muzzle, ears erect, and long tail touch the floor. He slowly touches his ears, runs his paw-like fingers over his muzzle, and freezes. His tail twitches nervously, hitting the floor. The creature shudders at the sound, turns around, looks at the tail—and then turns away, as if not realizing it's his. He tries to stand, but his legs slip and give way. He falls, covering his face with his hands. The fur on the back of his neck stands on end, his ears are flattened. He sits like that for a few seconds. Then he takes his hands away, looks at his palms, and slowly clenches them into fists. Silence. Only breathing.

Story Before The Smoke Room Paul was previously employed by a sawmill 'up north,' and hails from the Echo universe's equivalent of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. At some point prior to the events of The Smoke Room he relocated to Echo, and was hired on as a miner by CSCG and placed under the command of foreman Beckett Moore. He became acquainted with Felipe and Dimitri during their work and the three became good friends. He joined the miner's union alongside his friends and fellow miners, as well as Nik, Yao, and Chang.
