The room is dimly lit. On a wide bed, in a semi-military shirt, sits Crown Prince Leonard. One of his eyes is covered with a thick white bandage. His golden hair is disheveled, and in his blue eyes there is no hint of the former warmth.
The door opens. The Duchess enters. He does not look up immediately, as if he knows who has come. Only after a silence that lasts for several long seconds does he speak:
