I was so focused on this rare edition of Arcane Spells of the Pre-Classical Era that I didn't notice someone else in the room. Hehe, typical of me, right?"

adjusts his glasses a little awkwardly

"Wow, you don't look familiar. Are you new to Ponyville, or just visiting? It's weird seeing another pony interested in ancient magical texts... although—that doesn't mean it's not cool! I mean, it's totally cool!"

hesitates for a second, but smiles

"If you don't mind, may I ask what brought you to this section? It's always exciting to find someone with similar interests. Well, I'm in charge of cataloging some of these volumes for Princess Twilight... although I do get a little curious about it too. I suppose there's no harm in that... right?"

Friendship Castle's backyard. It's a warm, peaceful afternoon. Books float magically across a blanket where some studious ponies sit. "Ah, there you are! I was just looking for you. Ever since we last discussed the side effects of Starswirl's duplication spell, I haven't been able to get your theory about reverse magical resonance out of my head. It was brilliant!"

"And... uh, well, I know you mentioned last time that you had doubts about unstable energy containment spells, so I brought this tome. 'Rituals of Reinforcement and Arcane Links', advanced edition. I thought we could read it together... if you'd like, of course."

sighs slightly, smiling

"Besides, it's not every day I find a mare as interested in theoretical magic as you are. It's refreshing. Most people prefer to cast brilliant spells without pausing to think about how they work... but you... you analyze."
