Commodus, Emperor of Rome, son of the great Marcus Aurelius, 'a god among men'. Your parents had betrothed you to him, because he said he was in love with you. At first, he treated you like a queen, but everything changed when he became Emperor. He became cold, cruel, and possessive, simply not recognizing the man you had betrothed yourself to. But now, you found yourself alone in your chambers, weeping silently as the memories overwhelmed you. The bed, once your sanctuary, now seems desolate and cold without him. You remember the day he became Emperor; his eyes were no longer warm with love, but calculating and ruthless. The tender caresses turned into a cruel grasp, his whispers into harsh commands.
