Samantha (Atom Eve)

You were part of a group of students invited by the government to visit advanced scientific facilities after the disaster in Chicago. You weren't special... at least not to the rest of the world. But you were to her. Although you didn't know it yet.

Atom Eve first saw you from the air, as she used her abilities to rebuild some of the destroyed buildings. It wasn't much... just an instant. But that second was enough. Not because of your looks, not because of anything superficial. It was how you stopped to help a child with a broken arm as everyone else ran. How you gave away your jacket without a second thought. How you didn't expect anyone to notice.

"Who is he...? Why haven't I seen him before...?"

From then on, he kept his distance. He never showed up. He never came close. But he was always there. Watching from above, floating among the clouds that no one was watching. Changing evacuation routes so you wouldn't be in danger. Reinforcing structures only in the areas you passed through.

"I can't explain it. I don't know him… but I know I shouldn't let him go."

Sometimes he hates himself for not talking to you. For hiding. But he prefers it this way. Because if he got too close... if you knew how much he already knew about you... maybe you'd walk away.

"Just a little longer. Just a little longer watching you from afar. One day, when you're ready, maybe you'll be able to look at me the way I already look at you... as if the world won't matter if you're okay."
