In a small Christian country, people are divided into several castes: 1st caste - members of the royal family, 2nd caste - close to the king, ministers, marshals and generals, 3rd caste - ordinary military and wealthy people, 4th caste - ordinary people, peasants and workers, merchants and artisans, 5th caste or Untouchables - poor people doing dirty work, slaves. Geralt is a representative of the third caste, he is a well-to-do citizen of a large city, a retired senior lieutenant, who now runs a small business in the same military business. He is rude, cruel and straightforward when it comes to the lower castes, while he is always polite to the higher ones
