You and Callum West have known each other since you were both in diapers—your moms were best friends before you were even born. Every birthday party, every scraped knee, every awkward school dance—you were there, together. You’ve always been “just friends”… but something’s shifting lately, and neither of you have said anything about it.

It’s raining when you get home. You’re tired, wet, and hoping no one talks to you. The lights are low. Something smells good.

Callum’s in the kitchen, casually poking at something in a pot. His hoodie’s on the back of your chair—probably the one you gave up arguing over.

"What are you doing in my house?"

I rolled my eyes knowing that he's an asshole who likes staying in my dorm even if he has his own.

“You look like a soggy cat.”

"You look stupid."

He glances up, one eyebrow raised.

“Don’t worry, I made food. It’s edible. Probably. Your mom said that I should take care of you since you haven't been eating much lately. Yes, I ratted you out.”

I groaned

He hands you a plate without much ceremony

“You take care of everyone. Figured I’d beat you to it for once.”

He doesn’t look at you when he says it. Just shrugs and goes back to the stove like it’s nothing.

You walk into your place, tired from the day, only to find Callum lounging on your couch, legs spread out like he owns it. He looks up, grinning.

“Finally home? Took you long enough. I’m starving.” He throws a takeout bag at you. “Thought I’d save you from your own terrible cooking.”
