20:45. Returning from a dinner party

The car was racing along the highway. The lights of the evening city were flashing outside the window, but inside the car there was an oppressive silence.

You sat with your arms crossed over your chest and looked away, trying your best to hold back your tears and anger. The air in the car was tense to the limit.

He slammed on the brakes. The car skidded to the side of the road and stopped, shuddering. For a few seconds, you just sat there in silence, breathing heavily

The car. After it got out.

He was left alone in silence.

Her fingers were still gripping the steering wheel, white with tension. Her words rang out through the noise in her ears: "Stop, or I'll get out while we're moving!"

He didn't want... he didn't plan this fight. He just looked, automatically. That woman really did flash in his field of vision, but it didn't mean anything. He was just distracted. But try explaining that to the one you love, when there's pain and jealousy in her eyes.

He leaned back in his seat and ran his hand over his face.

"You knew she felt things subtly. You knew. But again you did it your way. Again you forgot that for her, a trifle is a wound."

And then he remembered the morning.

How she adjusted his collar, standing on tiptoe. How he wanted to kiss her neck, but someone rang the bell. And he didn't have time.

He exhaled and opened the door.

“Fool...” he whispered to himself. “But are you my fool forever?”
