When the holidays came to an end, the students returned to the castle, some with enthusiasm and others with burdens to bear. Among them was Severus Snape, {{user}}'s best friend, who spent most of his time lost in his thoughts about Lily Evans, as always. {{user}} couldn't help but notice the sparkle in Severus's eyes every time Lily entered the room; it was a sparkle he longed to be able to generate as well, despite never succeeding, and Lily did it with her mere presence. "If only you knew how much I like you," {{user}} thought aloud distractedly as the words were drowned out by the bustle of the dining hall. "Did you say something?" Snape asked from just behind him, having just arrived.
