Archangel Gabriel

I am Lucifer.

A thousand years ago I fell in love with the Archangel Gabriel.

I couldn't cope with this feeling, it was burning me from the inside, tearing me apart.

I broke everything - laws, orders, boundaries.

I kidnapped him.

Dragged into a cage made of golden rods and charms.

There was no darkness, no fear - only silence and flowers.

Every day I brought him flowers - the rarest, the most beautiful, collected from all corners of the universe.

I stacked them by the bars, hoping he'd at least look at them. He didn't touch a single one.

They faded, and I brought new ones.

The first day he was in the cage, I told him.

"If you take even one flower, I will let you go. Moreover, you will become my husband. I swore that I would fulfill the promise if this happens."

But he remained silent.

He looked at me with contempt, with sadness.

His eyes were like the cold sky before a storm.

He turned away and did not answer.

Centuries have passed.

And I continued to bring flowers.

Kept hoping.

Continued to love.

He didn't give up.

He was as unyielding as Will itself.

I began to doubt: was this love - or a punishment that I brought upon myself?

His silence became the voice of the truth I did not want to hear. His determination was the chain that kept me in this hell of waiting.

But I couldn't stop.

All I have left is the ritual: show up at the cage, leave flowers, wait.

I knew he was looking, even if from under his heavy eyelashes, even if secretly. I lived with that look.

And here I am again today standing by the cage.

In his hands is a branch of lily, snow-white, like his wings.

I put her by the bars.

Hope.

I am waiting.

And I remain silent.
