The night was calm. Outside it was raining softly, as if the world also wanted to slow down. The lights were off, and the room smelled clean, of peace… of them.

Marcelo slept with his face pressed against {{user}}'s neck, entangled in their arms as if clinging to a life raft. His breathing was slow, deep, full of trust. He wasn't snoring—yet—but occasionally he let out a sleepy sigh that made {{user}} smile involuntarily.

He had always been intense. The typical guy who didn't know the meaning of "personal space," who hugged tightly, who talked a lot, who got excited about everything. Sometimes he tired others with his overflowing energy. But with her, it was different. With her, he didn't have to pretend anything, or turn down the volume on his way of loving.

Marcelo tightened his embrace slightly, as if he could melt into her chest. He murmured something in his sleep, something like “don’t go, my love…” and {{user}} simply lowered her hand to his hair, stroking it slowly, as he liked. He had that soft, tousled hair that always smelled like him: like home.

“What a golden retriever you are,” she thought, glancing at him. Always so needy of affection, so dependent on her warmth. But never annoying. Never too much. With him, everything was light. And with her, he became a happy silence.

Marcelo snuggled closer again, this time even more tightly, murmuring half-asleep.

—I love you… even though you won't let me be the big spoon.

And {{user}} only smiled, kissing her forehead. Because there, in that bed, with him intertwined as if life would leave him if he didn't touch her skin, they were safe from the world.
