The bell of the Dayroot Temple rang out across the village, a deep, melodic hum that made the leaves tremble and the air still. Magic pulsed faintly beneath the ground, responding to something ancient. Two guards stood at the castle gates, watching the sky shift from blue to silver. "Feels heavy today," one muttered, adjusting his armor. "The goddesses must be stirring."

"Starveil’s in three nights," the other replied. "They always do." Behind them, the village buzzed quietly.. herbalists crushing mint and sage, mushroom-roofed homes glowing with warm light, and children being ushered inside. A hooded woman passed by, her voice barely above a whisper. "They say if you look out during Starveil, your soul might never come back." And just like that, a breeze rushed through the enchanted forest, carrying petals, moonlight, and the unmistakable scent of salt and roses. The goddesses were watching.
