As a child, he had two younger brothers, Senri and Akito, but Senri, unable to cope with the thought of dying before reaching thirty, set fire to the Ubuyashiki clan's estate at the age of eight, forcing his six-year-old brother Akito to commit double suicide. Their mother died in the fire, and Kagaya was left all alone as a nine-year-old child.

When Himejima Gyomei first met Kagaya, he was 14 years old. According to Gyomei, even at that age he spoke to people the way they wanted to be spoken to. In addition, Ubuyashiki had a very strong intuition and using this gift of foreseeing the future, he avoided many misfortunes.

The Demon Slayer Corps has nine of the strongest swordsmen. These skilled combatants are called Pillars or Hashira. Their strength is comparable to that of the Twelve Kizuki demons. Each Pillar possesses a unique breathing style.

Hashira have several main tasks:

to protect the region assigned to him from demons; to gather information about demons in the region; to improve weapons handling skills.

Gyomei Himejima - Pillar of Stone

Personality Gyomei, despite his large frame and angry expression, is a sensitive and vulnerable person. He can cry for various reasons. This is because Gyomei, being a religious person, has love for all living things in the world. Any misfortunes that happen in people's lives, he takes to heart. But demons are the only creatures he feels contempt and disgust for.

Despite his gentle nature, Gyomei is quite suspicious of the people around him, especially children. This attitude is due to a tragic event that happened in Gyomei's youth.

spoiler One fateful evening, a demon attacked the temple where Gyomei lived with his children and killed all the children except one girl. The surviving pupil unfairly accused Gyomei of their murder. For this, the young man was sentenced to death, but Kagaya managed to save him from an unfair fate. So Gyomei joined the organization of demon hunters, and two months later took the place of the Stone Pillar.

It takes Gyomei a long time to be convinced of a person, but after that he will never doubt a loved one.

Capabilities Gyomei has incredible physical strength, high endurance, and ranks first in speed among elite warriors. In battle, he easily uses a non-standard Nichirin blade in the form of a modified kusarigami. Thanks to his hearing honed to perfection, Gyomei can easily interact with objects that are in space. In addition, he can easily determine the lie of the interlocutor.

spoiler Kokushibo, while fighting the pillar of stone, noted its incredible strength, which he had never seen in the past 300 years. In the battle against the Upper Moon, Gyomei was able to fight for a long time without the Demon Hunter Mark.

Personality Sanemi is an impulsive and hot-tempered person. He is always ready to defend his beliefs to the end. He has deep respect and reverence for the head of the organization. Despite his rude attitude towards Genyo, Sanemi greatly values ​​his only brother. He does not want Genyo to expose himself to mortal danger in the fight against demons. Sanemi has a deep hatred for Muzan's subordinates, because they caused the deaths of people dear to him.

Capabilities Muichiro, despite his weak frame, possesses a power that exceeds that of the average Demon Hunter. The speed at which Muichiro moves makes it seem as if he is teleporting from one place to another. spoiler In the battle with Gyokko, Muichiro was able to dodge a thousand needles, and his amazing sword skills allowed him to cut 10 thousand fish. In difficult battles, the Pillar has repeatedly demonstrated his endurance. He fought against strong enemies despite mortal wounds. Muichiro, being a skilled user of the breath of mist, was able to achieve high results in mastering the technique and create his own style "Haze".

Personality Kyojuro is an emotional, optimistic and kind person. He has an unbending spirit that helps him overcome any life situations and help the weak.

Even as a child, Kyojuro understood the idea that the strong must protect the weak. Kyojuro's father, Shinjuro Rengoku, taught him the art of swordsmanship and instilled in him qualities such as discipline and fortitude. The father trained the boys to become demon hunters, but the mock battles did not last long. When Kyojuro's mother died, Shinjuro stepped down as Flame Pillar and stopped training his sons. But Kyojuro, possessing an inflexible character, began to study flame breathing techniques on his own in order to achieve his goal.

Capabilities Kyojuro possesses superhuman strength and honed speed and reflexes to perfection. In his fight with Akaza, he demonstrated his mastery of the sword. The speed of the sword was so high that even Tanjiro could not keep up with his movements. Kyojuro's reflexes exceeded those of the Upper Rank 3, as the Pillar was able to easily counter-attack Akaza and cut off his arm in a split second.

In addition, Kyojuro is distinguished by phenomenal durability. Even with serious and fatal wounds (broken ribs, lost eye, pierced solar plexus) he was able not only to hold Akaza with his bare hands, but also to cut off ¾ of the demon's neck.

The incredible strength, unimaginable speed and fantastic reflexes amazed Akazu to such an extent that he offered Kyojuro to become a demon.

Personality Giyu acts serious all the time. He has a strong sense of duty and justice. He has an unbending will, which motivates him to move towards his goal and victory. He deals with demons quickly and mercilessly, and only Tanjiro's sincere pleas for Nezuko's life shake his steadfastness. Giyu has difficulty communicating with people, so he is rather cold in his communication with them.

spoiler Giyu, along with Sabito, was trained by Urokodaki, the former Water Pillar. The two boys went to the final test, during which Giyu was seriously injured and lost consciousness. When he woke up, he learned of Sabito's death. This event significantly affected Giyu, because he always felt guilty for surviving and taking the undeserved place of the Water Pillar.

Personality Obanai is a mysterious, cautious and strict man. He is not without curiosity. He is suspicious of others. He treats the organization and its leader with deep respect. He immediately punishes those hunters who do not respect the organization's charter. He does not stand on ceremony with people who pose even the slightest threat and speaks rudely towards them.

Obanai treasures Mitsuri very much, as he has deep feelings of love for her. He is always ready to protect and help her. In his free time, he keeps her company at meals and gives her gifts.

She feels anger towards demons because they have killed many hunters. When fighting Muzan's subordinates, she gives her all to take their lives and avenge those who fell in battle.

Personality At first glance, Shinobu may seem like a friendly person, but behind this mask, there is anger and hatred towards demons. She likes to joke around with her colleagues and tease them. This behavior was formed after the death of her older sister, Kanae Kocho. So, by putting on a smile and holding back her anger, Shinobu tries to be like her.

In battle with demons, she demonstrates a benevolent attitude towards them, and then mercilessly kills them.

Capabilities Shinobu possesses agility, high speed, and amazing dexterity. These skills allow her to move through the thicket of trees with ease while simultaneously dodging enemy attacks. Despite her small frame, the huntress possesses the strength to break a huge boulder in two.

Shinobu, using her medical and pharmaceutical knowledge, came up with a unique way to combat Muzan's subordinates - creating various poisons from wisteria. This allowed her to develop her own fighting style and compensate for her lack of physical strength. She attacks demons with a blade smeared with poison.

The Twelve Demon Moons (十二鬼月, Jūnikizuki?) are a group of the strongest demons under the command of Muzan Kibutsuji, who received a small amount of demonic blood from him, increasing their demonic power.

Structure The Ranks of the Twelve Moons. The Twelve Demon Moons are divided into two groups: Upper Moons (上弦, Jōgen?) and Lower Moons (下弦, Kagen?). Each has markings engraved on their eyes indicating their rank (strength). Lower Moons have only a number on one eye, while Upper Moons have the inscription "Upper" on the other.[1] The Moons are numbered from the strongest (Upper Moon 1) to the weakest (Lower Moon 6).

He brilliantly mastered the second through fifth styles, but the first eluded him. In battle, Kaigaku skillfully combines "Thunder Breathing" and demonic abilities.

The Fifth Upper Moon – Gyokko

He possesses the ability to transform his own body at will, for example, taking the form of a Djinn or growing additional limbs. His skin can become so tough that cutting it is difficult. Gekko's manipulation of his body extends to the point where he can initiate a molting process. In this state, the demon's skin is covered in scales whose strength is comparable to that of a diamond.

During the battle, Gyokko uses two dangerous abilities: transforming an object or person into a fish with a touch of his hand, and teleporting wherever he wishes using a pot.

She plays the biwa and spends most of her time in the Infinity Fortress. Unlike other moons, she doesn't engage in direct combat with opponents, but her speed is known to rival the Pillars. Her demonic abilities lie in controlling the Fortress and in espionage. Skillfully playing the biwa, Nakime transforms space at will, creating entrances and exits wherever she desires. Using her hair, she can swap rooms and their walls. For espionage, she uses her own eyes. Nakime creates additional eyeballs, detaches them from herself, and spies on enemies, regardless of their distance.

From a young age, he possessed extraordinary strength, which later attracted Muzan. Furthermore, while still human, he mastered the "Soryu" style. In battle, Akaza does not use weapons; he relies solely on martial arts, combining them with demonic power. His speed, stamina, and physical strength are at a perfect level.

Akaza possesses a unique ability – the “Dislocation Technique.” This technique allows him to imbue his attacks with a shockwave effect, as well as pinpoint the location of opponents filled with bloodlust. The demon has a large arsenal of hand-to-hand combat techniques, allowing him to fight at both close and long range. For example, using the “Freestyle” attack, he repeatedly strikes the air, creating a shockwave and directing it towards his opponent. An interesting fact: Akaza only kills men. He never takes the life of a woman, regardless of her status.

He is capable of absorbing enemies through physical contact. He has a high level of regeneration and is able to produce antibodies to numerous poisons in any quantity, even if it far exceeds the lethal dose. Douma possesses extrasensory vision, which allows him to detect enemies beyond the visible range.

In battle, the demon utilizes the art of the war fan – Tessendjutsu. With it, he deflects and redirects powerful and destructive enemy attacks. Douma combines Tessendjutsu with his demonic blood ice technique, which transforms his blood and flesh into ice. This allows Douma to manipulate ice fragments at will. Another unique attack of Douma's demonic blood technique involves creating ice particles in the air; if inhaled, these particles destroy the enemy's lungs.

The combination of Tessendjutsu and his demonic blood's ice technique increases Douma's defense and attack, allowing him to direct ice particles using his fan.

He is considered the second strongest demon, and also a skilled swordsman. Kokushibo has incredible physical abilities that shock even the pillars. He has a mark of the demon slayer, which appears only in the strongest hunters. It multiplies the physical strength and abilities of Kokushibo several times. The demon has three pairs of eyes on his face, which allow him to see the muscles and blood flow in the enemy's body. In addition, he can predict the enemy's movements and attacks.

Kokushibo combines the Demon Blood technique with the dangerous Moon Breath. This combination enhances his attack and allows him to control the crescent blades created by the Flesh Sword. The blades can change their size, length and speed. This makes Kokushibo's attacks unpredictable. The demon has mastered 16 styles of Moon Breath. In battle, he uses the "Flesh Sword". Kokushibo created it from his own flesh, giving the weapon the shape of a blade. Due to the fact that the material for the sword was Kokushibo's organic parts, the weapon has the ability to regenerate any damage. The sword, from the tip of the blade to the handle, is dotted with eyes. Thus, they increase the range of vision during battle. Kokushibo is able to not only change the shape of the sword, but also grow additional blades from his own body.

Muzan Kibutsuji is the progenitor of all demons. He has three forms: a young man, an adult woman, and a child. Each form has specific tasks; for example, in the guise of a child, he had access to the laboratory where he could manufacture the necessary medicine; in the form of a woman, he could gather information about the blue spider lily; and in his final form, he financed places that his female form could not reach.

Muzan has existed since the Heian period, which dates from 794 to 1185. For twelve centuries, Muzan has been searching for and developing the medicine "Blue Spider Lily." The first medicine of the same name made Muzan an immortal being, immune to disease. He also easily tolerates poison made from wisteria.

The progenitor has seven hearts and five brains. He can absorb objects and demons, and alter his own body, adding limbs or changing their size. Through telepathy, Muzan can monitor the thoughts, words, and actions of all his subordinates, as his blood flows through them.

Despite the fact that demons are far superior to humans, they also have several weaknesses, which we will now discuss in detail.

Sunlight One of the demon's main weaknesses is sunlight, which can kill a host of Muzan's blood in an instant. When sunlight hits the creature's skin, it catches fire and burns until the creature dies. This is an incredibly painful process for them.

Wisteria The next weakness of demons is a plant called wisteria. For weak carriers of Muzan's blood, the smell of wisteria is extremely dangerous. Hunters make various poisons from the plant, small doses of which are capable of killing weak demons and Lower Moons. When the poison enters the creature's body, its heartbeat increases and the respiratory system begins to fail, and this eventually leads to death. Only members of the Upper Moon can resist the poisons from wisteria. This method of fighting enemies was invented by Shinobu Kocho.

Neck The Achilles heel of demons is the neck. It can only be cut off with a special Nichirin blade. If a demon is decapitated with a simple weapon, there will be no effect - it will not die. When a hunter manages to reach the enemy's neck, he subsequently turns to ashes and disappears.

Muzan Kibutsuji, the progenitor of all demons, has the ability to create creatures like himself using his own blood. If even a drop of Muzan's blood gets into a person's body, after a while he will begin to transform into a demon. Not every person goes through the transformation process, so weak people simply die in agony. An interesting fact is that Muzan does not have to directly transfer his blood to a future subordinate. This can be done by anyone in whose body it flows.

After a person has received the blood of the progenitor, a painful transformation begins to occur with them. Their appearance undergoes changes, for example, claws and fangs grow, and their skin becomes lighter. There have also been cases where carriers of Muzan's blood acquired a chthonic or animalistic appearance. At first, the young demon becomes incredibly aggressive. He attacks everyone he meets on the way. At the same time, he develops a brutal appetite, so in order to get his fill of human flesh, the creature arranges a real massacre.

The next stage of development of these creatures is the loss of memories of the times when he was still a human. The carrier of Muzan's blood develops regeneration skills, increases physical abilities, and the feeling of pain is dulled.

There are two main sources of demonic power: the first is humans, and the second is Muzan's blood.

In the first case, a novice demon can increase its physical strength and abilities by consuming human lives. Thus, the creature's power depends on the number of people it has eaten. However, they cannot endlessly feed on humans and become stronger; everyone has a limit. When a demon reaches it, its abilities consequently cease to grow.

The most "desirable" people are considered to be girls under 16 and people with rare blood types. Here's why: girls are valued for the freshness and unspoiled nature of their flesh; and the flesh of one person with a rare blood type can bestow strength equivalent to eating 50 people.

In the second case, it is necessary to obtain Muzan's blood. In small doses, it can significantly increase a demon's strength, but in large doses it is very dangerous to the creature, as it contains a high percentage of toxins. In this case, the recipient of the progenitor's blood may not survive and die.

In addition to regeneration and immortality, each high-level demon develops an ability called "Demon Blood Art." To do this, they must directly obtain Muzan's blood. Afterward, they can create unique techniques, such as manipulating space or putting their opponent to sleep. An interesting fact is that some demons' abilities are based on their former human lives.

In the "Blade" universe, demons are beings resembling vampires. They feed on humans to sustain their life force. These beings possess superhuman physical strength, and each has unique abilities. They are impervious to wounds and injuries inflicted by conventional weapons due to their regenerative capabilities. Demons can appear human, chthonic, or bestial. Many have horns and long, sharp claws. They do not age, remaining youthful for centuries.
