It takes place in a world where humanity has been reduced to living within enormous walls due to the threat of the Titans, giant creatures that devour people. For centuries, humans have lived in relative peace within these walls, unaware of what lies beyond. Their society is hierarchical and divided into different districts, with a structure similar to that of a feudal monarchy.

There are three concentric walls: Maria, Rose, and Sheena, each protecting different levels of society. The upper class and royalty live in the center, while the working and peasant classes inhabit the outermost areas, where the risk of Titan attacks is greater.

People inside the walls know little about their own history, as information is tightly controlled. Most of the population believes that humanity has always lived there and that the Titans have been their only threat.

The legions are different groups tasked with protecting the population from the titans, each fulfilling a different role, such as:

1. Reconnaissance (Exploration) Legion

They are responsible for venturing beyond the walls to investigate and combat the Titans in unknown territory.

They are considered the bravest (or most reckless) in the army, as they constantly face danger outside the safety of the walls.

Their goal is to discover the origin of the Titans, find ways to defeat them, and reclaim lost territory.

They have the highest casualty rate, so many people see them as a lost cause.

2. Stationary Troops

They are responsible for defense within the city walls and for maintaining order in the cities.

They are the most numerous unit and the one with the most contact with the civilian population.

They repair damaged walls, guide citizens in case of emergency, and protect access gates.

Because their work is less risky than that of the Reconnaissance Legion, many people prefer to join them.

3. Military Police

They are responsible for protecting security within the innermost wall (Sheena) and serve the monarchy directly.

Only the best army graduates can join this unit, which is why it is considered elite.

However, because they live in the safest area and have access to resources, many of their members become corrupt and prefer power and comfort over duty.

The Three-Dimensional Maneuvering Equipment, also known as MDD3D or EDM3D, is a mobility device based on propulsion and drag traction, used and invented by the human race to move freely on almost any surface and at any incline, and even to soar through the sky, although consuming much more gas than necessary. It was invented to balance the scales in combat with the Titans, since the size of humans hindered their mobility, so using the EDM3Ds they could escape from them and defeat them.

The gear itself is divided into different parts that make it a functional system. For example, one of the most notable is a body harness that encompasses most of the torso and lower extremities. Using this device provides the wearer with great expert mobility, although it carries a significant risk of muscle strain; therefore, using this gear requires significant conditioning. Some tools involved in the device include:

Space maneuvering unit: It rolls steel cables onto a drum and has two independent axes, which allow the equipment to move. Control unit: Essentially, the control unit comprises the main trigger located on what would be the handle of the katana, other small buttons are also located there, the configurations of these parts establish different sections of the device's operation. Gas tank: A tank filled with fuel that, when ignited, generates a gas that propels them through the air. Piston-shot: Used to deal with hooks and when you shoot, they stick into the desired target, making this equipment useful.

Titans closely resemble humans, being bipedal creatures with the same number and arrangement of limbs and functions as expected. From a human perspective, most have deformed dimensions to a greater or lesser degree, ranging from mild abnormalities in proportions to disproportionate head size and even bowed or bent limbs (which could be due to some kind of skeletal disorder).

They appear to lack the skin and subcutaneous tissue typical of humans. The vast majority of titans appear male, but their gender is neutral, as they lack reproductive organs. Therefore, it can be argued that there is no sexual dimorphism among them or that they are simply asexual.

Almost all titans have a huge mouth with a large number of teeth. They apparently lack canines, though possibly not incisors, and use them primarily for their activity of eating humans.

Titans have no demonstrable intelligence and act instinctively, being forced to seek out and devour humans for reasons unknown, as they obtain no real sustenance from them, as several Titans have not eaten human flesh for just over a century after the walls were built, however, this does not affect their activity or numbers. It should also be noted that once a Titan has filled its stomach with dead humans, it regurgitates them and continues eating as many more as possible.

It should be noted, as mentioned above, that titans eat humans for no apparent purpose other than to kill them. They ignore other animals and life forms (though they sometimes kill horses in their attempts to capture their riders), and they apparently lack a complete or non-functioning digestive system; they simply possess a stomach cavity that eventually fills with what they swallow, forcing them to regurgitate it in time to continue eating. Therefore, rather than being predators, they are more like "annihilators."

These beings have tough skin and the ability to regenerate, and can only be killed by a deep incision in the back of the neck, where the spinal cord of the previously transformed human is located. This weakness led to the creation of three-dimensional maneuvering equipment, allowing humans to move quickly in three-dimensional space to easily access the Titans' weak points, thus being able to kill them without directly risking their lives. Titans have a high body temperature; as a result, their bodies emit a lot of steam when regenerating, decomposing, or when under intense exertion.

-Pure Titans They are the most common type of Titan in existence. Their size can vary between 3 and 15 meters, and they possess a physical appearance largely reminiscent of humans, albeit with rather noticeable deformities. Their only distinguishing feature is their lack of intelligence, which makes them somewhat easy to evade when they pursue humans in an attempt to devour them. -Eccentric Titans Any pure titan that displays unusual behavior or certain signs of intelligence is classified as eccentric. Some titans of this type can ignore humans in their path, move to certain locations where they can cause more damage, and even speak words. Titans within the wall are unusually large (almost the same size as the Colossal Titan) and also possess hardening abilities. -Nine Titans They are fragments of the power obtained by Ymir Fritz 2000 years ago, humans who inherit them gain access to the Power of the Titans, with which they gain the ability to transform into their respective inherited titan, as well as gaining the abilities of these creatures while retaining their human forms and intelligence.
