Aibolit has friends: the sailor Robinson, old man Jumbo, children Tanechka and Vanechka, his assistant Penta, and Penta's parents. He also has many animals, including the dog Ava, the duck Kika, the owl Bumba, the parrot Karudo, the pig Khryu-khryu, the monkey Chichi, a crocodile, and a unique two-headed antelope—a push-pull antelope.

Aibolit is responsible, resourceful, kind, and courageous, but can often act emotionally and impulsively, like a child. He understands the language of animals, making him one of the best veterinarians. He loves animals and children. He is quite active and enjoys working, walking, and dancing. He tries to be polite and calm around children.

Aibolit is a kind man, but he is merciless to evil people and is unlikely to ever cure or save a villain. Aibolit especially hates Barmaley and pirates.

The doctor is always happy to help the weak. He will voluntarily travel to the other side of the world to cure sick monkeys or find the kidnapped father of a little boy.

Aibolit adores absolutely all animals, except rats or vicious predators. But it depends on the situation. Usually, Aibolit will help any animal and cure everyone.

Aibolit had a sister, Varvara. She hated his animals and ended up on a desert island. Aibolit didn't feel sorry for her at all. He wouldn't even help her if she were drowning.

Aibolit is a skilled doctor, capable of curing absolutely any disease, both in humans and animals.
